So, you're saying I need to get the sound all by itself and add it as an MP3 rather than using the original audio in the video clip? I can try this. I'm using several different clips but I might be able to make it work. I hadn't thought of this so thanks for the advice.

Did you try the LPCM audio burn on your DVD as suggested? What was the result? You may also try to split the audio from the video and see if that helps. It almost sounds like you have some bad audio for some reason. As a test case, have you tried cutting out the video around the "few minutes" and see if that helps.

Did you have a look at the Users Guide to help yourself out a little bit? Page 107 discusses rather clearly. The steps to follow are summarized below.

1) go to the Create Disc menu
2) at the bottom of the page is a wrench looking icon "configure create disc preferences"
3) Near the bottom of the disc format tab it says Audio type: Select LPCM from the elevator box.

Burn project as normal.

Tried the LPCM and it didn't make a difference. I'm going to try to get another source for the video and see if that helps. Maybe my original videos were weird, even though they played just fine in the PD.

I can't imagine what else would make the audio just disappear like that, and not even at the beginning of the video.

I would try to separate the audio and the video but I have no idea how to go about doing that.

If anyone has a simple way for me to try it, I'd like to.

Otherwise, I'm going to search for a different video source.

I am now trying to add the audio as an MP3 and I think I will just mute the audio on the movie tracks. Hopefully this solves the problem.

Okay, so now I've added the audio as an mp3 as muted the video tracks. This has solved the audio problem.

The issue now is that the video is cutting out at around 10 minutes, even though the audio continues to play.

I can't seem to win! Lol.

I am using avi videos. Could this have something to do with it?
I noticed that I was having a difficult time previewing the video clips that are being problematic in the timeline, but I could always re-click on them and make them work.

I can't imagine what's going on.

Sometimes videos are just finicky. My thought would be to run the video through Power Director and make an mpeg2 out of the avi video (I realize this seems redundant but sometimes depending upon how the video was processed OR perhaps there was a corrupt portion in it) it may change how the video operates under certain conditions.

Certainly the avi could be an issue but if it plays etc. I am doubting the fact that it is an avi is your problem.

I ran into issues with a bunch of clips I was burning to dvd and the dvd burned fine but wouldn't navigate. Ultimately my 7th clip out of 10 was corrupt. The only way I realized this was to burn each clip to see which one was causing the issue.

I can't see where you should have to mute your audio on the video clip and run an mp3, it doesn't make sense to me. I would suspect that there is an issue with the actual clip.

Just a thought. Hope you get this figured out.

Post your computer specs (processor, amount of memory, and graphics) in case that gives someone here a clue what to look for.

Also you mentioned having problems previewing the AVI clips that are giving you problems. Are these clips that have been captured from your camcorder or did they come from someone else's camcorder?

Or did you get them from somewhere other than a camcorder?

This may not help directly as I am still on PD6 with XP SP3 however, are you able to produce your project and then use another dvd authoring package to try it and see if the problem duplicates ?
I have used this workaround before when things like menus play up and I am short of time, so I produce my project(s) as mpgs or whatever and then use Nero or Serif or others that I have to get one that burns OK
I've had a problem in the past where a part of the completed project audio was (from memory) DD5.1 and whilst the project burnt OK it was back to the silent movie days for that bit for whatever reason.
Having another package is always useful anyway to try to duplicate/isolate problems, always assuming you have the time!

Wow. Thanks for all of the responses first of all. You guys ROCK!

I resorted to using Roxio to make a lame version of the project just to get it done in time for my deadline I had.

But for the future, I would like to resolve this PD problem as I really like the program and the options it offers.

There are some great suggestions posted here and I'm excited to start trying them.

I think I'll try to make the clips an MPEG 2 like suggested. That will be my first shot.

I'll post to let you all know how that goes!
