scene detection a few frames off

I have used scene detection for mpegs, and always seem to be a few frames off. Each detected scene starts with a few frames from the previous scene. This makes the thumbnails misrepresent the content.

yep... I've seen that before. Scene detection using the change of frame movement is inaccurate.

You may need to tweak the settings.

I found changing them on a previously segmented video made no difference at all.... it sort of picked up the changes exactly as previously. I opt for avi or mpeg capture from timecode to segment the video.

Hi Sir D!
Yeh, I WANT to capture individual scenes as mpeg, but the camera runs crazy. This time I captured just mpeg. Mistake. It is making my Fowl video more foul than need be. Join/SignUp to SeeMyWorldOnVideo. We're PowerDirector Video Editors. Are you a member? - JOIN TODAY!

Hi Barry,

That "crazy" bit.
1. Was it making the camera's tape move backwards and forwards without defining a capture point?
2. Was it just moving back to a new start point?
3. Were your clips on the tape of a very short duration?
4. Did the camera/tape get fixated at one point and not move beyond it?

PS Please address me by my correct "title".... Baron will do...

Baron von D:
After opening an mpg file for editing, the scene detection divides up the clip into VERY short segments unrelated to changing scene. How do I tweek it to actually detect individual scenes.
