Well, strictly speaking, no. A fade is a simple transition or wipe in which the entire scene is faded to a color, most commonly black, and on occasion, white. So what you would get would be a fade to black, some black screen time, then a fade *from* black to the next scene. What I simply want to do is dissolve from one scene into another, also incorrectly referred to as a cross-fade. You see, there is *no* real fade going on in a dissolve, and most cameras support a fade in or out to black or white, but few support dissolves >sigh<. Guess I'll have to see if I can load up OSx86 and get FCP to work

Thanks for the help anyway -- my version doesn't even seem to have a fade effect! You'd think in the retail premium version you would get the basics like dissolves and fades, but I guess you get what you pay for still...
