Powerdirector 12 refuses to start

I just finished installing newest PD12 full version.
Now it refuses to start. Only thing that appeared was first menu with choice of three,
and when I selected one it pops a box that says (in finnish) that I must be adminstrator to activate system,
only adminstrator has privilege to activate system.

Then I must click "OK" as it is the only thing that there is to click.

Run as adminstrator only produces same result.

Trial version worked. Everything functional that I tried. That's why I purchased this program anyway.

Needles to say, I feel I have just been frauded. Paid for something that doesn't even try to start.

FAQ, no help. No tech hotline to call to.

HOW CAN I PROCEED?

Hi,
No, you haven't been defrauded. A few guesses as to what might be the problem:
1. Looks like a poor installation.
2. Insufficient resources to run a 64bit program.
3. QuickTime not installed
4. Only partial download.

Your first option is to uninstall via the Control Panel then re-boot and then re-install, make sure you allow QuickTime to install.

Please provide additional details.
a) Using the Guide, Part B please. Guide, http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/29701.page
b) Check you have download all three parts of PDR12, see the question asked by another forum member: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/32491.page

1. Installation didn't indicate any problem. Trial version worked fine.
2. Trial version worked fine
3. Trial version installed quicktime. Uninstalled, reinstalled, problem persists.
4. All 3 files are here. Download was lengthy but complete.
Installation completes itself, and launches, then the error occurs.

None of above 4. This is really difficult, because it terminates so early and doesn't give much for why.
I never see activation dialog.

I have windows 8.1 64b.

I changed windows from finnish to english, uninstalled every cyberlink software and quicktime, rebooted,
installed PD12 again. It polls me for lanuage for installl, I choose english. Still, same problem, and error message
still in finnish, not in english. I don't understand why. Also it doesn,t anymore give me first screen, where was this
choice "easy edit", and two others, as I crossed the box. As if unistall somehow doesn't clear everything, itself
a signature of poorly constructed program.

No progress, many hours of work.

I try to attach dxdiag file, see if it sticks.

Still, how can I proceed??

I have bought a program, whose trial version worked fine, and full version now doesn't even start!

Now finally I was able to produce error message in english. It goes:

You have to be the adminstrator to activate the system. Only the
adminstrator has the right to activate the program.

And when I click OK the start logo disappears and PD disappears from task list.

I was able to change the message to english by reinstalling trial version, which first uninstalled full version, and from trial version I changed language. It also remembered my recent file. So it very obviously leaves remnants behind when uninstalled.
And very obviously problem is full version, something in it's activation process doesn't function properly.

As in trial version there is no place to activate, I uninstalled it and reinstalled full version. Problem is still there, now only
in english. And yes, I do run it "as andminstrator".

this is my download (first of 3)

Is there anything to do?

Hi OLTO ,
Have you allowed PowerDirector to access the internet? Your firewall may be blocking access. Check your firewall settings.

I realise you've stated quite clearly that you have admin status, however, your PC set up is clearly not giving you admin status for the program - I'm guessing (right now) you have blocked the internet connection (firewall) for PDR12 and as it cant complete the start function, it is returning the admin failure message.

Please report the issue to CyberLink support.

OK, I managed to solve the problem, finally.

I was under my computer's only existing family login with admin privileges, and also opened it by "run as admin". Didn't solve it.

Then I created new login, under name "administrator", and gave it admin privileges. Reboot, log in as this new "administrator", and program opened without problems. Now, once activated, it opens with my usual login.

Oh, well. Quite an IQ test, for a consumer product. I'm not impressed. But, finally, to the videos.

Anyway, thank you for your support, Dafydd.

Thank you OLTO, for the follow up information. I'm glad you sorted out the problem. A PC's hardware, software are a pain to sort out sometimes. Very good to know you have. Well done.

I look forward to seeing you on the forum, asking questions and answering when you've got a little more confident.
