I have a project 70 mins long but before I burn to disc I want to produce a MPG file. I opted for MPG2 and it started and indicated it would take over 8 hours to complete. Is this normal or do I have a problem

Hi,
I have noticed that 3-4 minutes FullHD (different formats) renders in some 15-20 minutes (=> 10 minutes would take an hour). Seems to be in line with that message .

Currently using PD12, but 11 was about the same.

Hi,
If you give more information on what you have, what you're selecting and a diagnostic, members may be able to assist you in choosing the right route to follow?

1. Diagnostic
2. info on video in tracks
3. Full track content, screenshot.
4. Purpose of project - what's the target audience, your aim?

See Guide, Part A, B and E & F, http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/29701.page

OK having read the replies this is the current situation.

PD12.0.2230.0 Ser#: VDE131028-01

Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601)
2.80 gigahertz Intel Core i5 760
32 kilobyte primary memory cache
8192 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 total)
Not hyper-threaded

Use Bit Defender Plus 2014 Anti Virus

Tried burning (rendering) a second time again to a file not directly to a DVD it ran overnight and on checking next morning it gave msg saying PD12 had stopped showing time 11:41:10 with 0:0:01 time remaining and 94% (bugger) of course it may well have crashed some time before the 11 hours.

Did it again for the 3rd.time with contact vigil taking snapshots of Project and several snapshots of rendering process. All details are in attached file.

The last screen capture at 5:34:37 and showed 78%. I check again at 7-30 pm hoping it would have finished OK.
However the same msg as before saying PD12 Stopped Working
Don’t know at what exact time it stopped working or what %age but if like last time probably around 94%.

On each of these two occasions all the VOB files were produced and I can use a video player to view them however there is no link between the clips and no loop around menu. I have to load each one into my viewing program. All the other files required i.e. the IFO file are missing.

I have spent 60 hours on this project over the past few months and this is calamity.
It is intended as a gift for a neighbour as it it about his recent trip to Canada and Alaska

That's reasonably complex video project that you have there. I note that you are running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. You only have 4 GB of system RAM. Most folks recommend a minimum of 6 GB, and preferably 8 GB with a 64-bit OS.

I am GUESSING that your computer is running out of resources towards the end. You could also try lowering your burn speed. That has helped me in the past. PD12 defaults to the highest burn speed.

You might also try building a short project from just the default media files that come with PD12, without effects or transitions, and see if that will burn. If it does, your problem is probably a hardware issue or an issue with one of the transitions and/or effects used in the project. I have had simple fade transitions cause a produce or burn failure from time to time. Remove the offender, and all is well. This is particularly likely if your produce or burn fails at exactly the same percentage each time. You can do a preview while burning or producing, but, of course, that will slow down the process because of the added load on the computer, but it will help you to identify where PD12 is hanging.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.
