Sometimes - mine captures - but upside down.

Go figure.

Mine will not capture with usb, I have to use firewire. Firewire does produce better video quality. Out of Memory!!

I can't get it to capture even with fire wire and Dell media manager. The icon for TV lights up but I don't even have a TV tuner in my computer. Any ideas?

Faenwyn, have no idea why TV lights up. Very strange indeed! Have you had any luck capturing with any other software such as windows movie maker? If not, try that just to make sure your camera is configured correctly. When I first bought my video camera, I called Sony and told them what a peice of crap their product was and they kindly told me I needed to set my camera to vcr/edit mode. Well that worked and I had to pull my foot out of my big mouth! Now I just tie my feet to the leg of my desk to keep me out of trouble. Out of Memory!!

That's what I do. I capture it with a different program then move it to PD to produce the movie.

Seem's like a hassle though, huh?

Mike, If I have a 8mm tape that is not digital (analog) I have to capture with Sony Vegas then edit it in Power Director 5. Is very much a hassle. I only buy digital tapes, but I do editing on home movies for other people that have older tapes. Cyberlink says you can capture analog, but you can't prove it by me. If I try it with analog tape, it captures for about 3 seconds then stops and wants me to name the file. I have to admit I am a video editing software junkie, probably have 6 or 7 different programs. I have to say Power Director has been the easiest one for me to use. My PD 4 is collecting dust since I recently moved up to PD 5. I use my other programs for simple stuff. All in all I'd say I'm very happy with PD 5 other than just a few small glitches. Out of Memory!!

Sometimes, just sometimes you might be able to copy the "camera files" to a directory on the hard disk and import the files into Power Editor. Then use Power Director to edit the files. It worked for me several times with a JVC camcorder and *.MOD files.

I think PD5 doesn't support capture from DVD camcorder. But, it's not a big issue because DVD cam itself is just a dvd writer to the system. You can find the drive in file explorer and drag the vob files into HDD.
Then, you can feed the vobs into PD5.
