DSLR is not an easy tool for shooting daily life video, manual focus kills most of users.

You also need to invest gears like mic, rig, monopod, steadicam, etc. if you are going to shoot seriously.

Nathan -

This one's interesting from an "interest" point of view - http://nofilmschool.com/2014/02/4k-panasonic-gh4-uhd-30fps-24fps-price-cost/

Body - $1700 Interface Unit - $2000 Bundled - $3300

Meets your )now obsolete) requirements and then some!

Cheers - Tony

My SOny A65 has auto focus in movie mode, but the mic picks it up. So external mic would be needed for sure.

Thanks Tony for the link on the gh4 (you do get a lot for your $) but it would be an epic fail....apparently only Canon or Nikon would do (and the Nikon was a stretch). PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Only Panasonic and SONY do well on auto focus when shooting video...

Took a nice long holiday late last year to Singapore and my past home, Australia. Complete with a DSLR, compact camera, mob and a camcorder. Next time I will just carry my mobile and the camcorder which shoots good stills and of cause video. Not excellent but perfectly OK for my hobby dvd productions. Very convenient travelling CYa Ron (W10/i5gen8/Nvidia)
