I need help please!

In "Create Disc" I am trying to burn my project to a video file.

Here is a list of the camcorder & file from the camcorder that I have saved to a computer file:
Canon Vixia HFS200
AVCHD Video (.MTS)
Frame width: 1440
Frame height: 1080
Data rate: 12148 kbps
Total bitrate: 12404kbps
Frame rate: 29fps
Bit rate: 256kbs
Channels: 2 (stereo)
Audio sample rate: 48kHz

Here are the settings that I've selected on the "2D Disc" tab.
25GB Blu-ray
Movie format (BDMV - with menu)
Widescreen (16:9)
MPEG-2

I have tried burning my project to file in both:
HD1440x1080/60i & HD1440x1080/24p

My project is 1hour & 33 minutes long.
Next I go to "Burn in 2D" > "Create a folder" > "Start Burning". I do not have "Burn to disc" checked.

My project starts to burn to folder and takes 58 minutes to go all the way to 96% and then freezes there for about 4 minutes and then I get the message:
Burning unsuccessful.

Error code: eA0040003

Possible cause(s):
The format of the media stream is invalid.
It may be caused by the following reasons,
1. The format of the media file is not supported.
2. The file cannot be located successfully.
3. The parameters or settings applied to the function are incorrect.
4. DirectShow filters are not registered well.

Like I said, I have tried both (HD1440x1080/60i & HD1440x1080/24p)
I have tried both of these settings on very short test videos, (1 to 3 minutes long) and they finish without any error message.
The only thing with these test videos in when I copy them to Blu-ray, the 60i video jumps and freezes in the player and then finally locks up. The 24p always plays fine.

Am I overlooking something. Sure need your help, Please!

I am trying another burn to folder with all the same settings except I'm trying H.264 instead of MPEG-2. Right now time elapsed is 52:00 minutes and it is at 56% complete with 40:00 minutes remaining. We'll see what happens. Windows 7 64-bit 8 GB RAM, x64

Still did not work with H.264 HD1440x1080/24p. I froze again at 96% for about 4 minutes and then I got the message "Burn Unsuccessful".

I'm totally ready to give up on PD12.

You may be running out of free space on your C drive.
Burning a Disk or Disk folder takes free space on C nearly double the size of the videos you are buning to disk.

I can't be out of memory on my hard drive. I have 747GB of free space on the C Drive. I've also tried burning it to a file on a 3TB external drive with over 2TB of free space.
Hope this is what you're looking for.

Yes, that is what I was looking for.

The only thing I see is You Video card is an older model and only has Dedicated Memory: 500 MB.

The recommended memory on a video card is 1GB.

That should not be the cause of your getting to only 96% then throwing an error.

Something to try.

Run the Test in Part H.

Hello John,

This error is caused when PowerDirector is trying to create the disc menu.

I have passed all this information onto the CL development team and they are trying to duplicate it, so it can be fixed.

Can you tell me which exact menu template you are trying to use the burn the disc?

For now as a workaround, you can try using a default menu template (one that came preinstalled with PDR, if you didn't the first time) or no menu template at all, to burn the disc.

Regards,
David

Carl312,

Both burn results burned successful. To the file and the disc both.

I'm thinking about trying my project to disc instead of file. Don't know if that will work.

Hi CLD,

The menu was a new template from the menu designer.

Thanks for you info!

Same error here !

- enough free disk space
- 2GB 660 nvidia
- with or without music in menu
- with and without hardware support
- m2ts file with mpeg or avchd
- same menu but than conversion to dvd with menu works great!

BD25 with menu, 24p, avchd, dolby digital 5.1

Looks like the program have problems to create BD with new template menu's.

DVD works fine with new template menu.

create a BD25GB disc with self made menu in menu preferences. at 44% it stops and " Burning Unsuccessful. Error code: eA0040003 Possible cause(s): The format of the media stream is invalid. It may by the following reasons, 1. the format of the media file is not supported. 2. the file cannot be located successfully. 3. the parameters or settings applied to the function are incorrect. 4. Directshow filters are not registrated well.

I run with 331.58 Nvidia drivers. not the latest because that issue is known.

Hope they find sollution fast.. need to burn this project soon ! CL PowerDirector 12 Ultimate suite

I have recently gotten my PD12 to produce a video file with no errors. What seemed to fix my problem might not make sense but I selected “MPEG-2 instead of “H.264" and my project finished without any errors. Don’t know if that was the cause or not?????

Here are all the settings I am currently using to create a video folder to my hard drive.

In “Create Disc” on the “2D Disc” tab I have selected:
Blu-ray 25GB (of coarse cause that’s what I burning to later)
Movie format (BDMV - with menu)
Widescreen (16:9)
MPEG-2
HD 1440x1080/60i (I have noticed my video get a little choppy looking if I select (HD 1440x1080 /24p)
Dolby Digital 5.1

After I click “Burn in 2D” I select “Configure Drive” and I put a check mark at “Include buffer under-run protection” and click “OK”.
I do not have “Burn to disc” selected. Only “Create a folder”. And I do not have a check mark at “Enable x.v.Color”

These settings are working fine for me, right now, and my final Blu-ray projects play and look awesome.

I was having a lot of menu issues which I posted under “Menu Highlight With No Thumbnail” and I have posted a full detailed explanation to my fix at:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/30641.page

I can’t guarantee any of this will help with your problems but I know how disappointing it can be, to try to produce a video and it keeps failing. I’ve done that a lot! I just hope I can post some information to help someone out as I have had lots of help with my own issues. I really appreciate this CL forum and I thank everyone for caring and helping me. Maybe if my suggestions don’t work it might give someone a thought to try something else on the same track.

Best of luck and I hope you get it worked out. Let me know if anything I said works.

Ive send all of the issues to cyberlink. I Confirm that dvd section works fine. Maybe the 50p conversion to 24p in combination with custom menu that gives problems... I dont know. Ill wait till cyberlink can simulate the problem. CL PowerDirector 12 Ultimate suite

Confirm. With Mpeg-2 it works. But looks like there is some quality loss with Mpeg-2 decode/encode.
So hope they fix the H.264 encode/decode option in combination with custom menu.

All my video's are shot in H264 so its already m2ts and it's just adding the menu.
With H264 it gives the same error again. I'm going to install the new beta. Maybe its working.
Keep u updated.

Glad I checked out this forum....and downloaded the trial version of PD12. I have the same problem as you Sander01. Glad i didnt shell out the $ yet for an upgrade from PD7. Do hope they fix this soon though.

FYI I am running win 8.1
It seems that win 8.1 may not be the issue but rather a software issue with rendering menu's in this format as listed below.

my video's are H264 so its already m2ts
In “Create Disc” on the “2D Disc” tab I have selected:
Blu-ray 25GB
Movie format (BDMV - with menu)
Widescreen (16:9)
H.264 HD 1920x1080 60i
Dolby Digital 5.1

It appears to author the whole file then crash at the end. Trying to do the Menu with chapters.

My stops at 44% but i think its related by the size of the media to burn. Like the BD25gb .. my m2ts file is about 11Gb so thats about 44% of a bluray 25gb disc. When he is done with the m2ts file and have to start working to create a menu the error pops up. The new created m2ts file plays perfectly but no menu created.

A pm told me the CL crew is working on the problem. They can contact me if they need extra info.
