If you are talking about the 24 frames per second film look that is popular now, it is apparently available only if you are making an AVCHD disc. It does not show in a standard disc or in blu ray options.

Even with v12, it is not available for a standard DVD; it is available for blu ray.

We would really need to know a little more about your project and what you are trying to accomplish. What camcorder are you uisng to produce the video files?

Here is a good article about frame rates:

Do you mean to old scratchy b&W movie?

If so, in the effects Room there is Old Movie.
Or Noise, You can adjust the parameters to have less intense effect.
Or Sepia, you adjust the color and intensity.

The film look, is basically color. PD is behind the cure on this. Even in pd 12 there doesn't appear to be an effect that adjust the native color of a video shot in a DSLR to mimic the film look.

Have you looked at the options in "Color Director"? See options below in image

As far as I can remember, you are the only one who has asked about this affect. Do you know of any prosumer software that will produce a film look from your camcorder? Other than MAC After Effects? Are you asking for that effect to be added to the next version of PD?

What camera are you using? What are the settings when you film using it? Where do you plan to watch the videos? Edit: Remember you are using at a program that is a couple of year's old.

Have you even looked at the trial of Color Director and what is available on the Director Zone as add ons for Color Director?

Here we go again....

I ask a simple question, but rather than get a direct answer I get the "As far as I know, you're the only person who has ever asked that question."

PS upgrades continue to disappoint. The things people actually want are ignored in place of things nobody wants. Who wants or need multi-camera support? What is 4k acceleration? Where's the ground-swell demand for "content aware" editing? And why more tacky templates that no serious prosumer would ever use?

How about an easy way to sync video with audio? Adobe Premier Pro now ships with Plural eyes functionality. .Why continue to include an "old film" effect, when everybody wants an effect that will make their movie look like the Transformers? And do you realize how disappointing it is to launch pd 12 and not see a dime's difference between it and pd 10?

Would you like a definitive answer? NO

There is no way to get a film effect in any version of PD. If you would ask a simple question - yes or no, then you would get a simple answer. Most people appreciate some suggestions. Apparently you do not. We will have to remember that.

You keep referring to Adobe Premier Pro. The legacy program costs $760 from Amazon. For that price don't you think that they should give you a lot more than a $115 program? Note : $150 if you include Color Director.

Hi Gary -

I'd say if you haven't noticed the difference between PD10 & PD12 you haven't spent much time exploring it. Sure - a lot of stuff is just the same, but PD12 is very different to use.

Even in PP, it's not just a one click fix to achieve a "film look".

Steve suggested looking at ColorDirector because it has more advanced colour grading features than PD. If I was trying to get a "film look" that's where I'd begin.

Even though there's no magic film look button, there's a lot you could apply in PD - even PD10. Of course, a good part of it is in the shooting.

Here are some references that might help:

I here you Gary, try using a clip that someone has uploaded to youtube, from something like after effects or something then layer it over your original footage and adjust opacity. I'm in the same boat as you, years to late i know but it might help someone else. I think you was wanting something a little more like film smudge etc in it rather than just lines, year?
