Hello,

Just a quick check- shut down your computer and disconnect your Seagate Goflex USB drive as well as any unnecessary external USB and other attachments.

Also it looks like you have two DVD drives in your computer?
Which one are you using to try to burn ?

They might be conflicting with each other- can you disconnect one and use the other one and see?

Thank you for the reply.

I am using the HP DVD burner
Tried with and without a disc in the drive

I can not get to the Disc Preference page
Program does not allow me to advance to create disc page

Tried with external HD removed - no change
Tried with Asus DVD reader disconnected - no change

CyberLink Media Suite 11 - Power2go is able to burn a data to a DVD successfully

Screen Shots – Error 1 "Please execute profile.reg first"

Several years ago "Rocket Scientist" posted this comment re that error.

"On my machine profile.reg was in the Powerdirector/setup directory and contained instructions to delete two registry keys, so it would seem to be related to your installation process."

I see a file by that name in c:\Program Files\Cyberlink\PowerDirector11\ but it contains no deletion instructions.

Worth merging, perhaps. Then again.

Thanks for the reply.
I was just looking at that string.

I found two profile.reg files located in

C:\programfiles(x86)\cyberlink\powerdirector11\~profile.reg
C:\programfiles(x86)\cyberlink\powerdirector11\profile.reg

I had a look at that thread earlier but since you uninstalled and cleaned your system then a new profile.reg should have been created so I disregarded it.

I checked your profile.reg with mine and I didn't see anything amiss. 804 entries and nothing out of place that I can see. (The 53K .reg file) Also the 1K ~profile.reg only has 2 entries which is the same as mine.

I am having a heck of a time opening up the Biz Tree file. It seems the Demo version does not like my Win 8.1 even though it should be compatible with Win 8. Can you convert it to a Word or plain text file?

Don't give up on tech support, keep bugging them. Since your Power2Go works then it's obviously an issue with the disc burn feature in PD.

Did you mean busTRACE 9.0 Capture Client.zip - rather than biz tree file?
The bustrace is scrambled in notepad.
The software says you can run it for free but have to buy it to see the report.
Tech support requested it. Marianne

Yes the Bustrace file- it had a .btd so I thought it was created with the Biz Tree software.

Anyway I downloaded the Bustrace 9.0 reader and even that is saying I need the full retail version to view the file since it was created with the client version of Bustrace. Since Tech support requested it they should be able to read that file.

Also forgot to thank you for the Wise Registry Cleaner mention.
Has now become my favorite Registry cleaner.

Thanks for the feedback.
I sent another request to customer support.
They replied that they would expedite the investigation.
18 days since purchase, install, and request for customer service,
and not being able to use the software seems like a long time to me.
Hopefully they will find an answer.

Glad I picked a good registry cleaner.

Thanks again Marianne

Customer Support responded today:

Regarding to your concern, I have escalated to our R&D team for further review, and they have provided workaround steps below.

Step 1: Uninstall old menu packs from control panel
If you ever installed old PowerDirector version with old menu packs, please go to "Control Panel" and find the old menu packs (ex: football packs) then uninstalled it. If problem persists, please try steps 2.

Step 2: Find file "Profile.reg"
Go to the PowerDirector installation directory (For example: C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector11\setup), and find the file "Profile.reg" then double click on it to execute. If problem persist, please try step 3.

Step 3: Find Custom Menu folder
Find Custom Menus folder under My document. (For example: C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\My Documents\CyberLink\Custom Menus) You can see there are three folders: 1.0/2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0. Please try to delete "1.0 & 2.0" folder and restart PowerDirector and enter Create Disc page to see if problem persist.

Finally resolved:

I was not able to get the PowerDirector program to work.
I took the computer to a local repair facility.
They re-formatted the hard drive, re-installed windows 7, quick time, and cyberlink media suite 11. And now it does work. Possibly the original problem was with the software download.

These things that were recommended by customer support did not work:

Uninstall old menu packs from control panel
I did this before contacting customer support , made no difference

Find file "Profile.reg" then double click on it to execute
I did this before contacting customer support , made no difference

Find Custom Menu folder - try to delete "1.0 & 2.0" folder and restart PowerDirector and enter Create Disc page to see if problem persist.
I did this and it made no difference

The problem is now resolved.
Thank you
