Pixelan Software 3D six-pack crashes

3D Six-Pack crashes Power Director when I click on TRANSITION room within the PD program. A hard crash. Have to reboot to close the PD program.

They have a test program you can download and see if 3D will work on your computer. That worked without issue, but it does not install within PD, just a test of your video card. So I imagine a conflict between PD and Pixelan.

Pixelan support is taking a look. Sent them my video card information. They have offered a refund if it can't be resolved!

Running Windows 8.1

Anyone else having issues with Pixelan software installs or is it just me?

Hi

Are you using the latest update patch v2209? I believe this is the only version that will allow Pixelan to work properly.

If not WAIT until the patch is fixed as it inflicts a incredible slowness on opening your projects.

Hi LostTarget -

Just for reference, PD12 on Win7 (64-bit) isn't crashing here using the 3D Six Pack.

Cheers - Tony

RE: patch v2209

Using the latest update. Matter of fact did a fresh program install today, to include the update. In the past had I had the slow problems, but not when using today.

Hope it works out, the 3D pack looks interesting. Have two other programs installed from the company with no issues.

Hi LostTarget,
I have had reports back on the fix I made available to users of 2209 patch* to test, and the fix works.
*The problem is related to the use of Dolby Digital audio in a PDR11 project.

I wonder what you're selecting to get the problem with the 3D Six-Pack. Please let me know, I may be able to assist. Please add your diagnostic, see guide Part B: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/29701.page

I've attached an image to show you how I selected the transition effect..

1. Selecting a 3D Six-Pack transition, from Pixelan.

2. Multiple 3D transitions available and how to select them in the Pixelan 3D Six-Pack - see link below.

I hope that helps.

I don't get that far. When I click on the TRANSITION room button, PD crashes, a hard crash, screen goes to white and the only option to close PD is to reboot the computer.

I have two video cards (HP Laptop).

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Driver Date 10/1/2013
Driver Version 10.18.10.3316
Location PCI bus 0, device 2, function 0

NIVDIA GeForce GT 635M
Driver Date 8/30/2013
Driver Version 9.18.13.2702
Location PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0

No errors reported and both up to date (checked yesterday, but does not mean they work 100% with Windows 8.1).

They suspect that as 3D can use either, a conflict of some sort. Above my pay grade, but sometime today (when I get the time, as the wife has plans) I'm going to disable HD Graphics and install 3D and see what happens (as a test).

Just want to chime in here, to add some further understanding for anyone who's interested... the issue isn't an incompatibility between our 3D Six-Pack transitions plugin and PowerDirector 12, nor an incompatibility with Windows 8.1 or the latest CyberLink updates. 3D Six-Pack is GPU-accelerated in part, and that means the GPU (graphics processing unit) on a user's video card/chip can be an issue. A small percentage of our Premiere, Vegas, etc. users also encounter this kind of thing (either a black effects preview or a crash) with 3D Six-Pack.

The above is why we have a small "Player" test app available on our main 3D Six-Pack page (at http://www.pixelan.com/3d/intro.htm ) that anyone thinking of buying this plug-in can quickly download and run. It catches most of the problemmatic hardware, but sometimes misses one. We believe in LostTarget's case, after looking over his data, that he is unfortunately one of those latter cases.

Generally, most video cards that are DirectX 9 or later compatible are all you need for 3D Six-Pack. The problem is a few video cards and computer systems do not fully implement the DirectX spec in their hardware. Some high-end cards are even like this, such as NVIDIA Quadro cards. Running the DirectX 10 or 11 *software* or latest drivers does NOT change that, unfortunately... it's a hardware issue.

Let me know if you have questions. Sincerely,

Michael Feerer

Barry,

Please see my reply to you from a few minutes ago here: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/30/30415.page

The following suggestion applies to any user... rather than hoping someone on the forum might have an answer to a crash issue or other problem (which are almost always machine specific, in our experience, thus odds are very slim someone else is seeing it too), I encourage all of you to instead use our technical support request form at http://www.pixelan.com/help-tech-support-form.htm

Unlike some software companies you may have experienced, there is no long wait for a real-person, specific reply (usually it's me). We are known for giving very rapid assistance to solve technical issues, even over weekends. There are lots of testimonials on our site for the level of customer support we give... for example, see the lower half of the numerous reviews and testimonials we have abut SpiceMaster (and our service) here: http://www.pixelan.com/sm25/reviews.htm

Thanks. Sincerely,

Yes, I was caught off-guard by the crash, and as it's just going to the FX tab, the fault is most likely NOT Pixelan, HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

I just noticed something odd...even after my re-install, when I click on FX tab, I do not get my entire FX library, rather I get a custom NewBlue folder I created, every time.
Then a crash. Period. It just happened after my Pixelan installation, but it is likely unrelated.
I am never going to edit on my new computer, I'm just gonna spend the rest of my daze troubleshooting. What a waste of time. Oy. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

That sounds frustrating, for sure. Definitely does not sound like something related to our code, since it's not occurring when at least selecting one of our icons. I'm not sure from your description, but in your latest install attempt, were our plugins even re-installed at that point? Or was the problem you describe after only re-installing PowerDirector? That would be a good thing to sort out. Sincerely,

Only Creative Ease is still installed, so it is NOT Pixelan!
Also, the 3D viewer worked fine, it sold me on the package, but I CAN"T USE IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I'll leave this thread now, as I no longer belong here...
