I am new to PD. I have created my 1st movie with 3 chapters and have selected "Play the selected title only" on the create Disc menu. However the movie just plays through to the end w/o returning to the menu after each chapter. I also tried putting space between chapters but that didn't help either. Is there something I'm missing here?

Thanks for your help,

Mike

Hi Stevek,

Thanks for pointing me to that tutorial as I have not seen that one before. However, I don't see anything that would point me to something I'm doing wrong. Near the end the instructor briefly shows the 3 options as to how the chapters should behave. He choose the top selection which will run the video to the end w/o returing to the menus. Well I choose the bottom selection to play the selected chapter to the end and then return to the menu. This is the option I have choosen but it simply does not work. Once the chapter plays to the end, it continues on to the next chapter w/o returning to the menu.

Perhaps I'm missing something in the tutorial. If so, can you point out what part I should pay strict attention to?

Thanks Mike

In the Powerdirector menu system, the playback controls only work on TITLES.

They do not work if you have a single project with chapters.

Titles are where you add videos or projects on the Contents Tab of the Create Disk Module.

That's interesting. I wondered why I couldn't get it to work. I do use pre-rendered individual videos but I have been adding them and then 'chaptering' I'll try this a.s.a.p.

Again think of titles as books and the DVD as a library. In the library you can select a book and read it to the end and then select another.

Think of chapters as chapters in the book. When you create chapters you create an index or contents page. When you stop reading the book, you can put it down and then use the chapters to find where you stopped reading that book and go to that place quickly. Chapter will not let you select another book (title).

That is the information I had in my first post but then deleted it. I thought the video would answer your questions. Sorry. .
