Fellow PD users -

Here’s a new tutorial created by vn800rider (Adrian), that shows a workaround allowing PD12 users to use MultiCam Designer to automatically sync up a four camera shoot.

Instead of the four cam shoot being mixed to a single track in PD12’s main interface, this workaround allows PD12 users to populate the four cam auto-synced results, to four separate tracks in the main interface.

Fellow PD users -

Forum member and PDtoots founder, Cranston, has done it again... pushing PD to its limits and going boldly where no man has been...

The latest tutorial posted on PDtoots shows how to create a freeform transition effect using PiP Designer. PD12 users have the advantage of being able to copy & paste keyframes to repeat the transition, but the same effect can also be achieved in PD10 & 11.

Thanks James1.

If you use the two templates, then all the work is done. You just need to remember to first set the Images duration in Preferences to 1 second, and make sure that your stacked Splits are 1 second long.
Then simply drag the 2 templates to end of your project somewhere, and copy / paste attributes to “your” splits.
When you’re done copy / pasting, delete the templates from your timelines.

Thanks to PDToots for the "MultiCam Customising Tip" video. Because of this video, I could take video from two cameras and create an inset picture-in-a-picture synchronized video with little effort. Check it out...

Fellow PD Users -

There's a new tutorial posted on our PDtoots channel that applies to ALL versions of PowerDirector.

The tutorial - made by Adrian (vn800rider) demonstrates how to shoot, create, and use a custom Chroma Key hand/finger pointer. It also contains some useful tips on disciplining your finger

There's a set of sample "pointer" clips available in the video description.

Hi everyone,

Forum member "1Nina" has just uploaded a new 2 part tutorial to the PDtoots channel, on the subject on customizing Camera View, Magic Movie, and Magic Style projects, by creating layered motion Backgrounds using Cyberlink Photo, Color, and PowerDirector tips.

Some very elegant examples are shown. So if you get a chance, check out Nina's very creative 2 part Custom Slideshow/Video tutorials and tips.

"To Modify or to Keyframe?" THAT is the question.

The latest tutorial on the PDtoots channel - Christmas Keyframes - is less about Christmas and more about controlling rotation with keyframes. Even though it looks a bit festive & light-hearted, there can be a bit of work involved.

The question of keyframing rotation comes up occasionally...

Here's a tutorial about using the FREEFORM tool in PD's PiP Designer. It can be used for basic reshaping of videos & images, or (when keyframes are set) to create motion.

Attached to this toot is a packed project download (for PD12 only), so you can see exactly how the keyframes have been set. Use it however you wish - if you wish. There's a download link in the video description.

Here's a little QuickToot in response to the question at http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/31791.page

The processes shown in the tutorial apply to time lapse photos, animation & video frames. In PD there are two ways to go about it - using the Time-Lapse slideshow template & setting durations in the timeline. Different methods with the same result.

Our latest toot is a response to one of our subscribers who was having trouble with formatting and applying long scrolling text. The question comes up often, because PD's Title Designer window is a bit shackled when it comes to this particular issue.

Carl312 has posted on this previously (including a video).

The limitation of having no Select All & not being able to scroll (to select) beyond the visible window makes it very awkward.

Essentially, the more that can be done to process the text outside PD the better. Really, the best advice about using very long scrolling text in PD is "Don't". Shorter sections are much easier to work with & won't cripple your PD/PC.

There's a step by step guide attached.

Noooo .. don't do it! You have been warned.

At around 5:00 into the video that was pure gold ! I actually burst out laughing.
To be fair PD 12 is much stabler with the latest patch.. but still if you try the above then all bets are off.

Guys & Gals -

The latest little toot on PDtoots is a Back to Basics (non-definitive) guide to some terminology that seems to cause confusion with less experienced PD users.

You read "Hey - hang on - I saved it & now PD can't import its own file. Where's my video?" In some NLEs "saving" does equate to "producing", so the confusion is understandable.

Anyway - it really is very basic so if you've been around PD for a while it may not do much for you!

The latest quicktoot on PDtoots channel shows different ways of achieving a fast zoom, based on a question posed here - https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/37865.page#194768

It's not so clear in the tutorial because a very short sample clip was used, but using the frame advance buttons to move the timeline marker can give you greater accuracy for setting precise (fast) zooms and other motion.
