Countdown.dzp is a static object

I am not able to get on the Directorzone forum to post this message.
Just downloaded from the Directorzone/ Motion Objects/ Countdown.dzp (16x9 by Cyberlink Design) and installed it. The webpage preview show that the numbers countdown from 5 to 0. It shows as up as a static object 5 when applied to any video track on my PD9ultra. PIP Designer also show it to be a static object. Any help appreciated to get this to work. Other previously downloaded motion objects do work on my computer. Thank You.

Hi tomasc,

You are correct. To test I downloaded and installed that exact Countdown .dzp motion object.

Upon opening in PD9, there was no motion, and it just sat there as a static object.

I then tried opening it PD10, and again, no motion.
However, when I opened it in PD11, it did indeed work as motion object just as shown on the DirectorZone download page.
But what’s even more curious, is that when I opened it in PD12, it went back again to just being static. Very odd.

I did these tests on a 32bit XP and 64bit i7 platform.

I know this doesn’t help resolve your issue, but I can confirm that the Cyberklink created Countdown motion object, is indeed only a static object when attempting to use it in PD9.
Maybe you might want to contact Support to see if they have any thoughts on what may be happening here.

Thank you Cranston for your time and quick reply.

The folder C:\Users\Public\CyberLink\Downloaded Effects\Emotion Effects\pipxxx contains the Title Template.xml which indicates that the installation is for version='11' along with 181 countdown_xxxxx.png files. PinPTemplate.cpt reference to a c:\Project folder which is missing on my PD9 installation. Now I know why it doesn't work.

I was able to create a workaround that works well. Copied countdown_00000,30,60,90,120,150,180.png to a new folder. Import that new folder to my project. Set Preferences/Editing/Image files to 1.0 second. Place the 7 png files in order next to each other below the main video track and group them together. Now they can be dragged to any position below the main track. The coundown effect from 5 to 0 works.

Missing is the spinning pointer because only 7 instead of the available 181 png files is used. Maybe someone with good knowledge can create a particle effect using these 181 files and upload it to the DirectorZone.

I have the modified the above motion object and created "Countdown5" as a particle and uploaded it to the DirectorZone for all to checkout and use. This should work in all versions of PowerDirector.

This Countdown timer has an exact 1 second timing between numbers. Let me know if you like to see any changes in it. Thank you Cranston for testing the original motion object in the other versions of PowerDirector. :

Hi tomasc,

Can you provide a link?
Or are you listed as "tomasc"on the DZ?

Thanks.

Hi Cranston,

Here is the link: http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/detail/124776212
I did not think of the link but a search for 'countdown' Filter by 16x9 should show it. Thanks.

Hi tomasc,

Yep, your .dzp does now work on all versions (sans the rotating dial).

You might consider editing your reply to add a (space) between the "colon" and the "link", so when others click on the link, it will be active.
( e.g. Here's the link: (space) http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/detail/124776212 )

Good job tomasc! Thanks.

Hi Cranston,

Would love to have that spinning pointer. This is my first time creating using Particle Designer. Found that out that there is a max limit of 8 particles or png files that can be used and a minimum time of 0.1 second setting. That means that the spinning pointer would be very slow.

The PiP Designer does not allow access to the source code to fix the motion object. That source code is probably in the c:\project folder which is not created on a PD9 installation so I don't have it. Someone with PD11 may be able to modify that code and get the original to work for everyone.

Anyway I am happy with 'Countdown5.dzp' so far and to share it. Corrected my link with the 'space'. Thank You for pointing that out.

Update! I have added the spinning pointer to the 'Countdown5' as a motion object named 'Spinner5. This adds the missing rotating pointer. One of these need to be placed on a higher numer track below the other and left aligned.

To use both the Countdown5 along with Spinner5 then set the Preferences/Editing/Image Files to at least 6.0 seconds. This is necessary to get the correct 1 sec. timing on motion object. If time is shorter then the motion object spins out too quickly and won't recover by changing the duration as seen on the preview. The reverse is not true and will maintain correct 1 sec when shortened.

I have watched the web videos created with Countdown.dzp by Cyberlink Design. Most stop the countdown at 1 instead of 0. You can do the same here by changing both Countdown5 and Spinner5 to a 5 sec. duration on the timeline. The correct 1 sec. timing between numbers will still be maintained.

Here are the links to both of them:
Countdown5 (Particle): http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/detail/124776212
Spinner5 (Motion Object): http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/detail/124776265

Enjoy,
