How to insert new clips in the timeline without the subtitles becoming misaligned

Hi. I have PD 9.
When I insert a new clip in the timeline, so that the clips to the right of the new clip move to the right to accommodate it, the blue subtitle markers above that part of the timeline stay where they are.
The result is that the affected subtitles now appear in the wrong clips.
I know that the markers can be dragged to the right until they line up with the correct clips again.
But this is very time consuming.
And, of course, a similar problem occurs when a clip is deleted from within the timeline.
Is there some way of locking the markers to the clips so that they move as a unit and do not become misaligned?
Thanks in advance,

Hi, I dont answer your question, but how I'm doing: first I handle videoclips, then I take music and subtitles I left the last one
Before final recording I check my project once or two (and 50% I find mistakes or what to fix again)
I have PD9 too.

Hi laurence1to3,

I've never used subtitles but just added some to my current project as an experiment. When I then inserted some nore clips into the middle of the timeline the subtitle markers to the right all moved and stayed aligned with their respective clips. Regards,
Mike

Hi Fenman. Thanks for your reply.
Puzzled by the result of your experiment, I inserted sample clips into a timeline again, but this time I varied the conditions.
Normally, I would select the 'move clips to the right on the track', or words to that effect, option; but this time I chose the 'move clips to the right on the timeline' option. and, lo and behold, the subtitles moved with the clips as a unit, so that there was no misalignment.
Thanks very much for your help, without which I would not have thought of selecting a different option.
Cheers,

Hi laurence1to3,

I don't understand what you're doing. I couldn't find those options anywhere in my PD9. All I did was position the cursor where I wanted to add the clips and select "Insert on selected track". Where do you find those options?
Regards,
Mike

Hi Fenman. My mistake. The PD I was having a problem with is on another computer. I simply assumed it was PD9, the same as the one on this computer.
In fact, it's PD11, which does offer those options. As I said, I resolved the problem after reading your post, so thanks again, and I'm sorry about the confusion.
Cheers,

Hi Laurence. I'm not sure if this is the issue you're having but I had the same thing happen and was told the following:

If you're inserting pictures & titles in between others and you want it all to stay in sync, unlock the tracks & make sure you've checked "Link all tracks..." in Preferences > Editing. Everything will shift when you insert or remove things.
