Problem With Refresh Rate. Help!

Thanks in advance, everyone! I deeply appreciate the help.

I just purchased and installed Cyberlink Power DVD 13 last week. I tried playing a regular Blu Ray on my PC today--it was Prometheus--and received the following message after pressing play: "Your display device's refresh rate does not match the content you are playing back. Do you want Cyberlink Power DVD to auto change the refresh rate for better playback performance?" I hit yes, and it plays just fine. However, I'm concerned because my monitor does support 1920X1080P @ 60HZ. Here are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3GHZ/Asus Maximus Formula Intel X38 chipset Motherboard/ 4GB of DDR 2 RAM / GeForce GTX 550Ti / Samsung S24C57OL 23.6 inch HD Native 1920X1080P LED monitor / Windows 8 Pro with Media Center / Asus BD-Rom drive model: BC-12B1ST

My monitor is connected to my video card via an HDMI cable. And before I run Cyberlink, I open my graphics settings, and it shows my monitor running @ 60HZ. However, when I open a regular Blu Ray disc, and it prompts me with the question above, and I say yes, it changes my monitor to 59HZ. It changes it back to 60HZ when I exit Cyberlink Power DVD.

Again, any insight would be deeply appreciated! Is this normal? Etc... Many thanks! It is what it is.

This is normal. Something to do with the movie frames being resampled if your refresh rate is higher than 24. Resampling could cause jerky playback. Dedicated DVD/Blu Ray 3D HTPC
DVD/Blu Ray Encoder PC
Power DVD 13 Ultra
AMD A8 3870K APU w/ Radeon 6550D
ASUS F1A75-V EVO (MB)
8G (4x2) Corsair 1866Mhz DDR 3

Thanks, Justin! I deeply appreciate the reply. So everyone has this problem with "modern" equipment? I was concerned it was my hardware! Please advise. Again, thanks! It is what it is.

Actually that's not a problem but the solution to a problem. PDVD just picks the best option for your hardware.

For optimal playback without irregulary repeated or dropped frames the number (Hz of the monitor)/(frames per second of the movie) should be as simple as possible, best thing is to be an integer.
Since most movies have 23.976fps and your monitor only supports 60Hz and 59Hz (which is a shorthand for 59.94Hz) the latter is better since 59.94/23.976 = 2.5 which is at least an half integer and the best what can be done with your setup.
Some movies actually have 24.000fps so then your monitor will use 60Hz.

So everything works fine on your PC as expected. If the display rate switching is bothering you answering the message you get with no will not do it. However you will have some random repeated or dropped frames now and then if you do so. Some people don't care or see it, others go crazy about it. Just try it out and decide for yourself.

The switching will *not* damage your hardware, it just switches between two supported modes.

Thanks for this. It really cleared by doubt. Again, I thought it was my hardware too.
