Download that video (Right Click on the video and download). Put it into Powerdirector 11 (ignore warnings, click OK at each).

Put on timeline, select it, Power Tools > Video Speed > 0.1X, Produce to some 720 x 480 format. (The original video is square) no matter.

Then if that is not slow enough put the slowed video on the timeline and slow it some more, maybe 0.90X.

You can then see just about each frame of the original video and see his edit points and the fact that he threw the shirt to hide when the boy ran into the picture. (one edit at the point of the boy appearing).

Have fun figuring it out!

A wonderful example of good editing skills.

Ah ha! Thanks, Carl.

It's probably along the lines of how this video was made, except the boy was "scaled" into view. ---

The first time I ever saw this effect of "being hit by a car" was done by a guy named Jared Cicon. He made this example back in 2009. He is a brilliant video editor. He also enters many contests including Doritos commercials. Here is a link to his tutorial. It's really fantastic! Check out some of his creations on his YouTube channel. He makes lots of commercials with a great sense of humor.

Hi SoCalDude -

Following Carl's suggestion of downloading the video is a good way to analyse it. In PD, you can use frame advance (> & < keys) to see what's being done.

0:00 - 2:00 - zoom out then throw shirt at mirror
2:01 - cut to boy
2:02 - 3:24 - boy moves from crouch to stand
3:25 - cut to holding shirt
3:25 - 5:24 - throw shirt then walk - zoom
5:25 - cut - shirt gone

What makes it "work" is that some sequences are natural movement.

Cheers - Tony
