The CD activation key error seems to be fixed according to some posts. However, I now get a new error when I try to activate PowerDVD Ultra 8. It says that I don't have Administrator privileges on my system. I'm the sole user of this system and am the Administrator. What gives?

Hi Mark,

Please send all your information to CyberLink Customer Support. For example your computer's specification, operating system version, and also your purchase information (PO#, e-mail, etc.).

http://www.cyberlink.com/english/cs/support/form/index.jsp

I will make the PowerDVD guy in CS aware that your e-mail is coming.

Thanks

David

David,

Thanks for the reply! I provided this information to CS about 5 days ago, but still no answer. I suspect it has something to do with the OEM version of Vista-32 that I'm running. This seems to have been a problem with previous PowerDVD version. Just a suspicion though.

Hi Mark,

I received this from customer support...please try:

Try to disable Vista UAC setting.
And when you launch PDVD, select "Run as administrator" to solve it.

How to run as administrator?
1. Right click the right mouse button on PowerDVD Icon.
2. Select "Run as administrator"

How to disable Vista UAC.
1. Control Panel\User Acconts and Family Safety\User Accounts\Turn User Account Control on or off
2. Disable "Use user Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.
3. Reboot machine

I am also running into this issue. Here are my computer details:

PowerDVD 8 8.0.1614.51
BD-ROM Sony BDU-X10S
NVidia GeForce 8800 GT
Windows Vista Service Pack 1
Intel Core 2 Quad q6600
Digital (with HDCP)

UAC is already disabled and have tried to "Run As Administrator" option. It still gives me the same error.
