I cannot see any major problems, but I believe there is an update for the graphics driver and I would update QuickTime, too. I do not know why you do not get an error message. __________________________________

Is Powerdirector 12 a Trial version?

If so and you are trying to import High Definition files, You have windows XP, the Trial on Windows XP does not support High Definition video.

From the PD 12 limitations.

Importing and producing H.264 video files is only supported on Windows 7/8 systems or hardware platforms offering independent H.264 encoding and decoding

I just purchased PD12 and it sucks right from the get go.

Can't even import my mp4. It's been stuck at initializing page for an hour now.

I have Windows 7.

I need a refund. Just wasted an enormous amount of time

That's a shame, Justine. Not an oft-reported problem, so it's likely there's a setup or resource issue with your PC.

If you take the time to attach a dxDiag file to your next post, folks here may be able to help diagnose the issue. See the "Welcome" sticky at the top of this forum. PARTS A and B.
No personal info is revealed.

Review this thread, if you haven't already done so. If you attach or upload your Mp4 to a server and link it here, others will test it.

I have a similar issue. I started recording with Bandicam software in MP4 format to get better quality and all the video plays with windows media and apples player but when i load it into PD13 the thumbnail is black and it reads that there is an error code 2. You can only play the sound and often it will lock up PD13.

After a day of searching and reloading codecs i can't seem to come up with a solution for why PD13 will not accept the MP4 files.

Best solution i can come up with is to download a free program called Avidemux 2.6 (64 bits) and crop the video. It will save it in a format that PD13 will work with.

You will have to play with the settings to get the video quality how you like it but in the end i was able to get the cropped file to load in PD 13 and i even did a test with other clips (avi clips) and produced a vid with both the pre edited (from Avidemux) and the original clip and they look 99% identical. I was really worried abuot a noticable drop in quality doing this.

Please if you find a fix for the compatability of mp4 to PD13 let me know because i have hundreds of files and this process however fast it is, takes more work than i wish to be doing. Thanks!
