excessive time to capture video

Hello I have a JVC hard drive camera Mod#GZ-MG21U and when I capture video it seems to take a long time. To capture one hour of movie it takes just about an hour to make a file thats still not converting it. I am using win xp with a 3.0 intel procs. 512 memory high speed usb 2.0 port. Is there a better way? I am using power director 3.2 Just bought the camera and was told the only software I can use is this. Thanks for any help

Hi,

Okay I don't have your camera and I've not used PD 3.2 for a long time.

Capturing footage (tape) takes an hour for an hour with an avi file capture. I don't know the format of capture (hard drive) for a JVC - so cant offer an opinion on data file transfer.

PowerDirector 5 Premium is the latest version and is more likely to be in sync with your product.

Thanks The software I have came with the camera and was told by JVC support that that this software is the only program I can use. This software sucks but I don't know if I am stuck or not.

Well... I'm not sure if I understood the right issue that you described. D Bevan seemed to bring me to understand the question that capture with JVC HDD camera seems trouble. If it's the case, I think you don't have to feel trouble. For HDD camera, you don't have to go through usual DV capture workflow. The only thing you have to do is just to plug in your USB connector into computer, find the "Removable drive" found by Windows and then browse the video clips in SD_VIDEO. Then, you just treat them as regular files and copy them into your local HDDs.

That's what I would surmise - however without a hard drive JVC camera to hand...it's not something I could specifically instruct.

Hi You can do that but none of the programs support a mov. file you can play them but to encode the program nero,roxio does not see that format.

Hi,

I have just loaded PowerDirector 3 onto one of my computers to see what the problem is. A .mov file can be imported into the program for editing. There isn't a problem with PD3 or with EzProducer... other than being an older software. PowerDirector 5 Premium is the latest.

There are known conflicts with having more than one disc writing software on your system and these will cause problems for you.

I can not assist you with the software you've mentioned above - heck they conflict with CyberLink's software and I wouldn't have them on my systems!
