This software is so buggy if it were no so good in the past id have given up by now.

Ok. My latest error codes, since managing to get Content Pack Premium installed, is " Media Source error [ Error Code 2]" What is really bugging me is that this worked fine before and I cannot think of why its not working now. The only thing I have done is delete and import the Premium content pack. I have read past reports about using Format Factory etc and I have tried that.

The files that are in error now are Audio files. I cannot play any of my MP3 or WMA files. The show up on the time line with either a straight line for Mp3 Files or a wave form line with the WMA files. If I just import a MP3 file with no video then I get the error so I dont think its a video problem as they alone dont throw up codes.

These files played ok before in PD11 now they dont. PD11 also does not like its OWN files. Tram.wmv and Nature.mpg files wont play without getting an error code.

Is it going to be yet another uninstall and re-install job???? 17th time lucky?

Hi Frankc

Some of the issues you've posted previously have been reported before (1033.mst and your recent error message). I'm wondering if you have an additional problem with your computer that PDR11 is highlighting. If the sample files wont play then you have an issue. You may need to call in a tech helper, or if you know how, wipe your hard drive, reinstall the OS and start again.

Have you contacted CyberLink support, they may help. From what I've read the issue looks a lot more than just powerdirector?

Video editing stresses a computer and PDR is a large program pulling on resources. If you have an internal hardware issue or a corrupted OS then PDR may fall over.

Start with an uninstall:
PDR11,
QuickTime
Wave Editor
REBOOT.

Reinstall PDR11
Add the activation
install the latest patch

Wipe my hard drive??????? Re-install my OS? I really hope you are joking. This is something I would never do just to get one program working. Personally I would agree it will probably sort out the problems but its like saying rip out your house wiring to fix a fuse. I like to think I am very good with my computer. I will sort this out.

The files play in everything else except PD11 and now PD10. They play on QT and Microsoft media player and a couple of other old video editing programs I have. I dont have any problems on my comptuer except with PD11. I regret asking now.

At the moment I have just uninstalled PD11 AGAIN. and the premium pack. Now I cannot find the CL-Premium pack uninstaller. I know support have mailed me the link but I cannot even find that now. Its a good thing I have a lot of patience.

Hi Frankc,
It is a "last resort" strategy which was quite common a few years back when corrupt OS's were common. You mentioned you had the same issue with PDR10 and now 11. Doesn't that ring alarm bells with you and point towards a possible software clash/conflict taking place. They still do happen and for products that are not similar.
The software isn't "buggy" but you do have problems on your computer. Isolating the cause of the problem can take ages (and has been for you so far) that's why I suggested the OS etc route as it can be quicker. Best of luck. Let me know how you get on and when you isolate the cause I would be interested to know what it was.

Sorted. The codecs supplied with PD11 conflicted. I downloaded a codec checker and reset to Windows values and now it all works.

I did not have problems with PD10 it worked really well. Then I installed PD11 and it didnt. I uninstalled both. Did a system restore to before the PD11. Re-installed pd10 and it worked. I then re-installed pd11 and it, that is to say pd10, no longer worked. As I said I ran the codec checker. Reset to original values and now I can import wmv, mp3 fine. PD10 & 11 work.

So if you get these errors, and believe me I have seen plenty of people through google who do, then run a codec check.

Hi Frankc,
Thank you for the update.
What caused the conflict? What software did you use/install that initiated the problem for your system to corrupt the default codec set up? I would be concerned that a software/cause has yet to be identified and you may inadvertently repeat the problem.
I'm glad a system restore to an earlier date restored your OS default setup. It is a worry that you had issues on your system which have caused you so much grief.

PowerDirector wasn't to blame here (and isn't the buggy software! ) in the end.

What caused the conflict? = Powerdirector 11. After 'install codecs were set to PD11 and PD11 and PD 10 did not work after install.

What software did you use/install that initiated the problem for your system to corrupt the default codec set up? = Powerdirector 11

I would be concerned that a software/cause has yet to be identified and you may inadvertently repeat the problem. = Problem only occured when I installed Powerdirector 11. The ONLY thing causing me problems was PD11

I'm glad a system restore to an earlier date restored your OS default setup. = Restored it to pre-install of PowerDirector 11

It is a worry that you had issues on your system which have caused you so much grief. = Yes me too.

PowerDirector wasn't to blame here (and isn't the buggy software! ) in the end ????? OHhh I wonder what it was that caused me all this grief.
