Please post a screen shot of "show information" with PDVD 12 to clarify what information you are talking about. I see "View Information" with PDDVD 12 but that may not be what you are talking about.

Thanks.

Eadit, I just opened PDVD 13 (on my laptop) and was able to get to the information. Make sure that you have selected a single file and not a folder.

Yea, I don't know what other "Show Information" there would be. If you found something called "View Information" then that would not be the same thing as "Show Information".

It's only there during playback when you right click it's towards the bottom of the popup.

Not playing a File or Folder.

Same function works with PDVD12 on the same PC with the same (all) movies. ???

Richard, I asked a simple question and you seem to be giving me grief. Sorry if I did not understand what you were looking for. Now that you have told me when and where you find it, I will be happy to look for you. It may have helped if you would have mentioned that the information was available only during playback of a video file.

I did and I do get the "Show Information" when I am playing the file. I tried with video already on the computer and a YouTube video. The LEAST I got was the play time and total length of the video.

Just as an aside, the "View Information" gives me much more about the file including the length, the format of the video and the audio format used. .

Steve, I gave a simple answer. Don’t read so much into nothing. I don’t know what “View Information” shows you or where to even find it. You did not say or post a picture. Are you giving me grief?

I don’t know for sure that it only shows during playback, I miss spoke. That is the only place I can find it.

I don’t know if you are saying that it works for you. As you say “playing a file” and “a YouTube video”. Whatever you do in PDVD I guess you are just playing some kind of file but maybe when you play a disc it’s different? I only use PDVD for movies.

The “View Information” sounds like tag info on the file. I think the “Show Information” shows you in real time the PDVD audio/video output regardless of the file info.

If you would have put all the information in your first post, it would have saved ----

I put a commercial DVD (not blu ray) in Power DVD 12 and didn't even get the "Show Information" option (Yes, I right clicked).. Do you have the movie on your computer as a digital copy?

Yes, the 'View Information" is the tag information.

By the way I did ask if your would post a screen shot in one of my earlier replies.

Yea but what fun would that be? It is in the help file:
Show Information
When you enable Show Information, the OSD (on screen display) displays the variable video bitrate, audio types such as Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital 2.0 or DTS 5.1, and their audio bit rates. It also displays the playback time elapsed and remaining, plus the chapter and title information.
Settings
Select to access the settings window. See PowerDVD Settings - Player Settings for more information.

You post a screen cap of the right click settings popup first, then I will. You can't. Not with a Blu-Ray playing.

It's a Blu-ray. Never tried "Show Information" with a DVD, that I recall...

Ok, just tried it with an old DVD I have and same thing. Works fine in PDVD12 but not PDVD13. The option is there in both, don't know why you don't see it. But you can do a screen cap with a DVD playing. Did not know that, thought it was always blocked while PDVD was running.

Why do you want the screen cap? Attached, DVD only though. The cap is of PDVD12, PDVD13 looks the same but you can't select "Show Information".

The screen shot request was in my first reply to your question. It would have helped answer the questions and you providing the information that followed. It is not useful now.

BTW, you just added another variable - blu-ray. I don't believe you provided that information before. .

Then you asked about it again but I thought you were still wanting to see it.

No, Blu-ray and DVD do the same thing in PDVD12 and 13 on the same PC. It’s more interesting that you don’t see the option when you play a DVD. I’ve always seen the option but I only play discs.

I tried playing a standard DVD and the blu ray StartTrek with PDVD 13 and saw the information. I don't know why I didn't see it on the desktop PowerDVD 12. .

Hi Richard,

I am using PowerDVD 13 Build 2720.

I can view the "Show Information" during playback of Blu-Ray disc, ripped to hard drive Blu-Ray disc, DVD, ripped to hard drive DVD disc and resident video files.

It shows all the usual information that you would expect to see when you tested it with PowerDVD12.

I have no idea why you aren't seeing this information using PDVD13. But I thought it might help to know that it does at least work, at least on my system. And as you stated, I can't take a screenshot during Blu-ray playback.

EDIT: I did take a picture during Blu-ray playback to show the information popup. see attached.

So the only thing I might suggest is to uninstall PDVD13 using Control panel and the reinstall it. Sometimes this procedure can correct these mysterious problems, though sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't correct your problem, you might need to go the technical support route. Just be patient....it can take awhile emailing back and forth.

Good Luck my friend!

Kevin

Didn't you think that was important? Why didn't you mention it in your first post. It would have saved some time. An learning experience to provide much more information in your questions to help all of us !

In an earlier post, you said that you saw the same thing in Power DVD 12 and 13. Am I misreading that? Are you comparing trial version to trial version?

Do come back and clarify; inquiring minds want to know !

Hi Richard,

No problem! Always glad to try to help. It might be that the demo version doesn't support this, but I don't know for sure. It wouldn't have helped me if I knew you were using the demo version to answer your question. I have never used the demo version so I wouldn't have a clue if this was the reason why the show information was lacking.

If you decide to purchase the full version I hope you enjoy it! It works great!

Kevin

Thanks, I had heard (oddly) good things about 13. It starts faster and it’s easier to get rid of popups but it’s been crashing a bit on me. When I play the same title in PDVD12 it seems to be ok.

I would hope that it would not matter if you had the trial version or not. Within reason, what is the point of demoing it if it doesn’t work the same? The other guy said he did not get the Show Information option with a commercial DVD. So I don’t know what is going on. I always see the option but in PDVD 13 it’s ghosted out.

Hi Richard,

It does start faster. The first time you use it, it does take awhile to import any video and movie titles that might be on your PC. Once that is done it only has to import any new things added to you PC.

The other thing it doesn't do well is to apply the correct DVD cover title to any ripped movies. It seems to download the incorrect movie DVD cover graphic. It is possible to correct it manually by inserting the correct DVD cover by downloading it and inserting it into the parent movie folder.

As far as your crashing, I don't have an answer. It has never crashed on my system. There are differences between the trial and full version. Some of the differences are listed on the product page. Keep in mind once you purchase the software you can get a full refund within 30 days if you are dissatisfied. It's a painless way to change your mind and get your money back.

Kevin

I keep forgetting but the other thing I found was that the picture is more washed out in PDVD13 and the blacks have a small glow to them. I’m not sure if it’s a setting I change at some point in PDVD12 that I need to change in PDVD13. It’s hard to see in the pic but you should be able to make out a band above where the film image stops and where the true black under the PowerDVD logo is. In PDVD12 the whole area above the film image is true black.
