Hello this is my first post and as you can guess new to PowerDirector. I bought a box copy of PD11 and when I install from the disc everything seams to go ok till I try to "open" the program once its all done installing. I'm getting a box with a message that says..."The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration in incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail"
I have no idea what this means? I uninstalled everything and reinstalled and got the same out come. I hope some one can help, I pretty excited to get playing around with this!!! thanks ASUS windows 8 64b, Ci7 3.40G, 1TB, 4Gx2

Looks like your Visual C++ runtime is broken, you can try to reinstall it, CyberLink has a FAQ for that:

So after searching the internet for a bit and reading over these post I just did a "restart with updates" and it "fixed" it on its own. This is a brand new, windows 8 computer and is very difficult to navigate especially for someone who is not the best with computer issues! lol Thanks for the replies, I'm sure I'll have some more questions in the future. Joe,

To help tame Win8 until you get used to it try Classic Shell which is free and restores the Start button and menu like Win7.

Click the green download link.

Windows 8.1, in essence Win 8 service pack 1 on steroids, will make navigation a bit easier. The preview is available now, but it's best to wait until final release. Don't expect the relative convenience of Win 7 to return though; 8.1 is still a split-personality. ^_^
