I'm new to PowerDirector so if I mess up the terms please bear with me.

I have a large folder (about 1300 photos) that was done as a time-lapse of a bud turning into a flower. All of the pictures are in the proper order.

I have played with about 75 of the pictures and have a good idea how to time the pictures to make it into a video.

Now my problem. When I import the folder all 1300 photos come into the work space. I defiantly don't want to place each one on the time line one-by-one. It was okay with a few but not that many.

So, now for the question. Does anyone know of a way to place an entire folder straight to the time line?

ah - its so easy to do this - you will kick yourself,
1. import the folder
2. select the first clip in the media library
3. You can use cntrl A of select the last clip in the media library whilst holding down the shift key (pretty much windows standards)
3. Drag the selected clips to the time line
4. make coffee - and once they have processed your done!

I just tried this with a smaller file and it worked great. Thanks for the quick and helpful assist.

I have tried this but once in comes into the media library it is not in the same order. I have tried importing the folder and importing individual files. The files are ordered by date on my hard drive but seen to be imported randomly. Any way of importing in the same order?

There's a right-click|SORT menu. Perhaps it will help sort things out. (sorry ^_^)

Hi Dan,

What is your naming structure of your files? If they are in numerical sequential order they should be in order.
Is it the default camera structure such as DSC001.jpg or IMG0001.jpg and so on ?

Or have you named some with custom names like "flower bloom.jpg" ?

You can try renaming them by adding a sequential number to the beginning of the files like 1_Flower.jpg and 2_Ivy.jpg etc.

I use a util called Bulk Rename which is free. It looks complicated but it is really a very simple and powerful little prgm to use- just read the short tutorial and you will be able to figure it out - link here: http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Download.php

I tend to have multiple sources - (usually with slightly different timestamps) my method is some what manual but works for me
I Export all files to a separate folder one per camera
I then do a quick check and kill any bad pictures or videos that are just rubbish (these are usually photos ) so lets say DSC0001 -- to DSC1000
I then work through the other clips and pictures and rename them to be close to where they should fit in to the sequence so imgXXX becomes DSC0010(1) this will hold it in the right place (or close)
I even rename the videos to the same format
when I import I can sort by name and my pictures and video are basically in the right order ready to assemble (never really works exactly but moving a few images in far better then the alternative)
