I will be using it mainly for remote sound recording, but thought I would get something that had some decent video quality.
It would be great if I could actually run PD11 on it too.
My desktop PC runs PD11, BUT I can NEVER see any video transitions correctly. Simple fades stop the video cold until the effect runs, when it leaps ahead in high speed to catch up to the soundtrack.
I have learned to "produce" low res movies to watch my transitions and then tweak them. A bit of a drag, but it works.
The PC is a bit old, a custom Puget Systems build with Micron guts.
Processor: Core 2 Duo, E6750 @ 2.66Ghz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 ti (2GB 256-bit GDDR5)
8 GB RAM, the max it will take.
Win 7 64-bit
I assume modern laptops will out perform it even with the fancy card. But I cannot spend a lot of money.
When it comes to splurging or cutting corners, and trying to keep it as close to $1,000 as possible, what features other than RAM will matter most when it comes to get PD11 to meet and exceed my needs?
Here is an example of what I primarily use PD11 for.

Simple HD vids and titles, synched to a hi def sound track, lots of subtitles, photos etc.
My question really is, will 8 GB RAM on a laptop be enough to run PD11 correctly for the kind of work I am doing?
I expect to get a 15" for portability and to keep costs down.
Thanks!
