Creating DVD - PD11 Space requirement incorrect?

I need to create about 50 copies of a DVD (Yeah - it's a School Concert!).

When I go to the "Create Disc" menu (2D Disk - DVD), the program indicates that the video is 5.2 gb - and therefore I need to use an 8.5 GB dual layer DVD.

However, after burning the DVD (and creating an ISO image), the DVD file size is only 4.2gb - and presumably, I do not need to use the more expensive dual layer DVD.

(a) Is there a way to get a better 'size' estimate from PD11 or
(b) Is there a way to get PD11 to burn the video to a 4.7gb DVD?

(OK - I know that I could/should using an ISO image and use ISO burning software, but shouldn't PD11 be more accurate?)

Try to just make the video, then make the disc from the video.
Or, I think you can trick PD by checking double-layer disc, but just use a single.
FYI, PD has, for several versions, totally mis-calculated the size of the media project. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

From the aspect of computer science, it's hard to estimate variable bit rate format accurately...until the encoder really encode it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks. I'll try burning to a 4.7 gb DVD and see what happens!
