THANK YOU Korrigan!

It doesn't relate to Aero on/off and Aero is always on.
I'm talking about this checkbox:

Yep, that's it - and you are right, PDVD turns it off, and sometimes, even without crashing, fails to turn it back on. Same behavior here on my system. My collection: http://www.blu-ray.com/community/collection.php?u=194008&action=showcategory&category=1&categoryid=7

Has anyone figured out how to keep the window shadow activated?

I have PowerDVD 16 and this bug is still not solved.

When I open PowerDVD without movie, the shadows are deactivated.

When I open PowerDVD with a movie, the shadow remains active.

I hate this old and still unsolved visual bug.

I wrote to support and they told me to contact Microsoft. It's not PowerDVD's fault.

Then...

How do you explain...

When I open PowerDVD without movie, the shadows are deactivated.

When I open PowerDVD with a movie, the shadow remains active.

...?!

This will never be solved. I'm amazed about this.

For me, the problem disappears only when I close PowerDVD.

This is what support said to me. This is crazy!!!!!!

Dear Bogdan,
Thank you for writing back.
We understood that you observed that there are difference between
direct video playback by PowerDVD and launching PowerDVD main program
window. As earlier mention, under current program design,
PowerDVD does NOT alternate Windows operating system's Windows style
setting, but just using PowerDVD custom style setting in PowerDVD main
program Window. PowerDVD does NOT deliver such commands to
alternate the shadow effect for other programs' windows or the whole
Windows style in system. By further checking with engineer team,
PowerDVD cannot reversely modify or control the shadow effect turning
off condition, which is NOT made by PowerDVD, but the operating system
(Windows) alternated it for all other programs at the moment when
PowerDVD main program window was launching.

-----------------------------------------------

"By further checking with engineer team,

Really??? I have screenshoots that it DOES turn off shadows. WTF.

You would expect different from those cheapo indian support? laughing

Don't waste your time. I'm using MPC-BE for years since PDVD's support is dead.

This will be finally solved after many conversations with Cyberlink. They finally found the error. And there is a registry workaround until next patch.

Download the file below.

Enjoy!

It is fixed, not just "seem". Finally.

As far as I know, from PowerDVD 12 was this problem.
