New User.
Crash on startup before I even get to use the software for the first time.

Re-downloaded latest copy/patches of PowerDirector11
Uninstalled, Deleted Folders, Rebooted, Reinstalled

Provided DxDiag, Crash Report, and Screen Shot below.

I read through the requirements and noticed that my workstation video card Quadro 2000D is not on the supported list. I'm really hoping it's not the video card so I can use this product.

Thanks for any help you can offer! I've tried to search/read everything possible before posting.

Welcome to the Forum. I have looked at your dxdiag file and your crash report. My first suggestion would be to uninstall QuickTime and reinstall the latest version. That has been known to cause crashes as PD11 relies on QT.

The other possible issue, though I did not see mention (might be looking in the wrong place) is your crash report, which states, in part:

"VGAName +,-./="NVIDIA Quadro 2000D" DriverVersion%&8.17.12.9573"/>
"VGAName +,-./="Intel(R) HD Graphics Family&0DriverVersion%&8.15.10.2418"/>

I am wondering if the onboard Intel graphics mentioned in the crash report might be conflicting with your Quadro cards? Can you disable the Intel Graphics in the Device Manager, under Display Devices?

Of course, your assumption MIGHT be correct that your video cards are not supported, but I would be looking for other possible causes before replacing video cards.

Hope this is of some help. Have a great day, and thanks for providing lots of information to help us try to help you.

Thanks for your help Phil. I now have QuickTime 7.7.3 and have disabled the intel integrated video card. Unfortunately, I'm still getting the same error.

Sorry to hear that my suggestions did not help. If I were you, I would go to the Nvidia site and see if there are new drivers for your cards (your drivers appear to be just over a year old). You can't trust Windows Update.

If that doesn't resolve your issue, try disabling the Nvidia cards and enabling the Intel onboard graphics and see if PD11 still crashes. If it doesn't crash with your cards disabled, then I would suggest your initial assumption might be correct about your cards not being supported.

In that case, I would contact CL Tech Support to see if they can do something for you or add support for your cards in a future patch or release.

Hopefully, one of the more hardware-literate members of this forum might have some ideas to share as well that might lead to a solution to your problem.

Have a great day.

jmatlock88,

Reading your 64bit Dxdiag.txt:
1. Your Nivida driver is over one year old. Update from Nvidia. The Quadro drivers are available.
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

2. Your SSD drive is short on space, that should not stop PD from opening up.

3. You have an i5 Cpu, can you enable the onboard graphics, and set it to use the Nvidia if neccessary?
3a. Check the Intel site for a update on the HD graphics driver.

3 things you might try:

Run with only a single monitor set up to test.

Check if your BIOS is the latest version. It shouldn't matter but I have had a problem with a Gigabyte mobo in the past that needed a bios update. If I have identified yours correctly it should be

U1g(UEFI BIOS) 2012/07/13

You might also try booting into safe mode and trying PD - it should work under safe mode and if so it points to a conflict loaded later on.

Cheers

Hey guys I figured out the problem. Unfortunately, PowerDirector only likes to be installed in the default C:\Program Files directory.

Those of us that install windows on SSD don't have the luxury (space) to install every program on the SSD, especially a program this large.

I install only the essential programs on the C drive then use a second 2TB drive for program files. I use another MSATA SSD to cache the 2TB drive for added performance.

PowerDirector now lives on my C drive, but I'm afraid it will be unhappy with the 54GB remaining on the SSD.

Without reinstalling the OS and everything else, I don't see how I can make this any better.

Even when you install PD on your "D" or other than C drive.. it still uses the C drive for all its catch and page files as it is running..... 54 Gig of space although some will say is fine.... it never has been for me.... Just my 2 cents worth.... to me a SSD drive is not the thing to have right now. I will wait till they are much larger and cheaper. The "extra" speed you get is not all that great and not worth the aggravation you get with a micro drive space drive as you run out of space. The new Dell laptop I just got I took the 60 gig SSD option out and got the 2 tb regular drive option. But it wont be used for PD.... or gaming.... just for the road.... I don't understand the thrill of having your windows start in 8 seconds verses the 21 seconds my oldest computer takes... __________________________________________

SSD drives are mainly for people that build say, a home theater PC from Linux. You can make it startup really fast as you would expect any other electronic device. You don't wait 8seconds for your DVD player to start. At least you shouldn't.

I don't see the point either in using these drives for the normal windows OS. My windows starts in about 2 seconds from sleep mode. SSD really is not going to dent that.

Can't you tell PD where to put its temp files and scratch space? Canon HFM301 (+wide angle lens)

No, Cyberlink hard coded the locations for Powerdirector's Temp files location. On Windows 7 they are coded to use the Users area.

It is possible to move the User area in Windows 7, but it causes more problems than it fixes.

On a computer that uses a large spinning drive (no SSD), if you keep the C drive with about 100 GB of free space, Powerdirector runs very smooth.
