I have produced a 16:9 video AVC 1920x1080 50i (16Mb) and burnt a PAL DVD from it.

Now I need to make a DVD of this content for viewing in America. Should I produce in NTSC (and if so what are the appropiate settings) and is 16:9 widescreen OK? If not 16:9, can one easily change to 4:3?
Would appreciate advice. Thanks

Hi,
The format for DVD in Northa America is ntsc and you should be able to load the project into PD and go to Prefeences and just choose
the NTSC for format then burn as usual. When you make a DVD video it is Mpeg-2 for a standard DVD and will be saved accordingly. The quality can be produced in PD at hi res but PD when building the Standard DVD Pd re samples, the quality is very good. I would burn a small version to a re-writable DVD to preview tho'.

In America DVD is 720x480, NTSC. Not true 16:9, but it is widescreen. PD will take care if that detail for you. __________________________________

Thanks a lot for help gentlemen.
I set the production at United States NTCS and the profile came up at 720x480 60i (8Mbps). After producing I burnt DVD without problem The DVD plays on my pc (seems that WMP plays both PAL & NTCS) and looks exactly like the PAL version so I guess that your widescreen is almost identical to 16:9 format.

Great stuff this PD ... even though I cursed it a few days ago when it decided to crash. Upon my restart I stupidly ignored the 'we have found temp files etc' and loaded the 'real' project LESS all I had done since the last save. Once opened, I couldn't work out how to backtrack and open the 'temp file' Is there a way maybe CYa Ron (W10/i5gen8/Nvidia)
