PowerDVD 10 just closes for no reason

I have this powerDVD 10 and windows XP I watch Blurays on my computer all the time, but last night the program suddenly took to closing down randomly. No error message or anything. I would get through the opening logo of the film and all the way to the copyright message. Then the program shuts down. It was fine the day before, using the same discs. I have not installed anything else. Does anyone know why it would suddenly go "funny"?

I'm having the same problem, but it is just for recently purchased Blu-rays. Older ones work fine. Is there an update in the works? Just tonight, I reinstalled the most recent build, and it didn't help.

Hi,
can you post more information about your platform and which titles show the issue?

OK, I've done more tests, and some older Blu-Rays work, like I-Robot and 12 Rounds, but others which worked previously don't. These include Looper and Pulp Fiction. The new ones I've tried that don't work are the new Total Recall, and the Godfather Trilogy - which I recently purchased from Amazon, and is a remastered version - and it includes a notice about updating your Blu-Ray player if you have problems.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit on a AMD quad core. I have it hooked up to an Acer H5360 projector on the HDMI out from a nVidia Geforce GTX 460 video card. My main monitor is a Dell 2405FPW, which is not HDMI compliant, however I route the video through the Acer projector and disable the Dell monitor when I'm watching a Blu-Ray. This setup has always worked flawlessly in the past.

The build I'm using is 10 Mark II version 10.0.4520.54.

I might add I recently reinstalled windows. I had a bad RAM chip which corrupted the old install to the point it was unreparable. I still have the old install, (which won't boot) on a different hard disk. I installed a new hard disk and disconnected the old one so Windows wouldn't install the boot loader, and reconnected to I could access my old files.

As I said, Looper played fine previously, and I'm fairly sure it was with the new install, but I'm not positive.

To sum it up, with the Blu-Rays that won't play, PowerDVD strarts to load the movie, then exits the program. These include Blu-Rays that played previously. Other older Blu-Rays still play.

Should I uninstall and reinstall PowerDVD? What it the limit on installs? I think I've installed it twice.

Thanks

Hi, same problem here.
The only thing I can remember is to install "Internet Explorer 10" on my system (W764) recently.
The problems using PowerDVD10 occurs after the installation of IE10.

Is it possible both these programs influence each other in a wrong way?

Btw. Chris, have you already received an answer from CyberLink?

I haven't received an answer yet. Your reply makes me wonder if Windows update had something to do with it.
My setup is somewhat complicated, so that might be why Cyberlink hasn't responded yet. But I have been using the same setup for a couple of years already without a problem. I'm going to try and troubleshoot it some more this weekend. If I can't fix it, I'll try and contact them again.

Hi,
thanks for your info.

please check our Windows 8 compatibility page below:http://www.cyberlink.com/stat/window8-updates-center/enu/index.jsp

PowerDVD 10 is not Windows 8 ready, so this could be an issue caused by compatibility issues with Win 8 and PowerDVD 10.

Perhaps, but this has never been an issue before. I have played BDs many times with PowerDVD 10 and Windows 8, without any problems. From the other posts in this forum, I would say that this issue is not only on Windows 8.

Also, is it possible that PowerDVD 10 is not compatible with Les Miserables, considering that it is a new BD and it has not been tested with PowerDVD 10

As mentioned earlier, I have the same problems.

The following blu-ray discs I recently bought won’t play at all.

- The Grapes of Wrath
- Laura
- Grand Hotel

After I inserted the disc in the player CyberLink starts up. After that the popup screen "loading blu-ray disc" appears. When the files are loaded for approximately 99% CyberLink disappears completely from the screen.

Purchased the latest version (PowerDVD 12) and now it works fine. Wish I didn't have to spend the money, but 10 was getting pretty old. It's only 39.99 to upgrade and it comes with some nice extras for free.

I have the same problem. I just tried to play my Star Wars Complete Saga Blu-rays and PDVD10 just quits after the "This disc was manufactured to the latest standards..." message. It worked before - I watched all the movies with PDVD10. I'm on Windows 7 HP 64bit.
