Version 13?

if it gets that far and there's people gullible enough to get there credit card out!

Version 12 isn't exactly brimming over with must-have features. They are rapidly running out of
bloatware they can bolt on. Maybe social networking? ahhhh shut up, your giving them idea's lol

I too have received a similar hotpatch from Support. Turnaround time: 3 business days. 5 days total.

Ticket Started: 2013/03/06 03:46
Ticket Resolved: 2013/03/11 16:07

This file I just got has the exact same file name, file size, and digital signature date as the one that some moderator removed from this forum a few days ago.

The digital signature on both files says it's from Tuesday, ‎March ‎05, ‎2013 4:33:06 AM.

Just got my response as well.

And the activation key provided doesn't work any longer, perhaps it has something to do with a signature date . . .

Yes,
I think they provided one CD key to everybody, but it is only good for n-uses. I finally was able to get to dealing with this today (they did take 5 days to respond to my first ticket) and the key has exceeded allowable installs.

I've been a customer since PowerDVD 6, and I'm pretty disappointed right now. It's awesome you all keep concentrating on adding these wonderful social features that I have NO interest in and can not turn off, but it'd be cool if you could also just "work" which is the only thing I've ever hoped for.

Somewhere I have a license to PowerDVD 12 I could dig up (one of your sites knows it's me and has my old PDVD 6&7 licenses, but the other site doesn't know who I am, so I only have my emails to go on and I'm too lazy to fight through your disorganization to get to an inferior product when I could just as readily turn to a competitor), but that hideous childish 12 UI is just awful dreadfully bad and I've made it a big point to enjoy PowerDVD 11 and the more "typical" player user interface.

I guess I'll enjoy being broken for now. Thanks for providing a completely blocked path to a quick solution. XXXing out useful data is a real favor to users in a disheartening broken state.

edit: Helpfully, 0x800401f9 is CO_E_ERRORINDLL - "Error in the DLL". An excellent error code. :\

Have just received a reply to my ticket where I told them I am not answering there dumb a$$ customer-proof questions. Refusing to wait more days to confirm there I.D requirements. I told them I already have the hot-fix version thanks to forum-posts and it works fine. The reply tells me to download the hot-fix, gives me the address saying it only lasts for 5 days. Don't these idiots read engRish or are they just plain ignorant. Probably both!

Also, don't say:
"A workaround solution has been provided last week but we understand that the provided workaround procedure is neither a final nor convenient solution for this problem. "
when that seems to be pretty untrue. The correct wording would be "is available from Product Support". As opposed to me fruitlessly searching for this """"provided"""" solution and you helpful XXXXing it out to make sure it is NOT provided.

Thanks for that.

For those of you lucky enough to have the binary, but a bad key that won't activate. Search online (not this forum) for 'offline activation'. There's a simple reg key to change and then the key that they gave you that has been activated too many times works great.

I just got my key to activate this "new" testing build and it actually seems like that version is a much older down patch.

I can't play any of my new BluRays with the version they just provided. Now I'm not sure to try and patch this version up all the way, or not .

Good god, this is a horrible process.

I spent $100 and bought TotalMedia Theatre 6. Given that I can't get or even buy a working solution from CyberLink at this time, that seemed the only way to quickly move forward. TotalMedia Theatre works in Media Center, doesn't have the big overhead of all the undesired "social" features, and most importantly works currently.

It was fun last night running PowerDVD 11 under Process Monitor and seeing all the time it wastes trying to use social features that I want nothing to do with. It's both inefficient and aggravating: I know Facebook is really exciting to some, but I have no desire to Facebookize me watching The Dark Knight Rises.

This is ridiculous. As many users have the same issue, they should let the user downloads and fixes the issue instead of having to call or posting the issue and wait for their solution. I posted the request yesterday for this issue but no thing comes back yet. I had to return the rented blue ray disk.

I got fed up with waiting for a response to my ticket. So I installed the newest version of MPC, that along with my copy of anydvd and I can play just about any bluray disc out there. On the plus side every time I fire up MPC it doesn't ask if it's OK to connect to the internet and I don't have to manually set my audio output setting.

I'll never pay for bluray software again, not when there is better freeware out there, minus the expense of anydvd, but I bought that 4 years ago.

Just wanted to let everyone know who is waiting for a ticket response from Cyberlink on this one. The testing build is pointless, it doesn't play new BluRays.

I repeat, I just was given the testing build and it doesn't play new BluRays. Not only that, it still reminds you to patch the program to a broken version like before.

You are all better off downpatching to 2608 before they actually decide to treat this issue seriously.

I got a beta version of Ultra 11 that was suppose to be fine. But as soon as it was installed I got the message that it needed to be upgraded to play the content. I did (cyberlink didn't warn me) and then I was back to square one where the software wouldn't play blu-ray disc.

It's hillarious. They give you a version and you're notified about a patch that wrecks it.

One can avoid this by pressing no when you're notified about the upgrade obviously, which I did the second time. Not sure though if this means the message will come up every time I pop in a blu-ray disc. And when can I know the real upgrade and patch is the right one?

The whole thing is a mess.

And if Howling Murf is correct, it also doesn't play new ones.

I think it's time they offer us a free version of 12.

Not sure what you mean by patch file here, but the one that I was notified about after the installation was named: CL.v3318_r77447_Ul_DVD120803-02
I was told that patch was v3318.
v3901 seems to be the one I was given from cyberlink support. But when you're not told that you shouldn't upgrade and overlook the message on the screen, there's no way to know.

And how will future upgrades work? You should remove the ones that are incorrect.

Care to tell us which disks you're having trouble with? I have the hotfix and I've played Prometheus, Hunger Games, and Skyfall with no issues.

Also, I understand the issues some of you have with patching the hotfix. I always immediately disable the update notification in Options, and this stops all unwanted pop ups. I also disable all of the MoovieLive settings, etc... I just keep an eye out for update patches through the website.

Why all this rigmarole to try to get a work-around?

This smells of a stunt to weed out the users of pirated software — which I don't care about in one respect, since my software is legitimate and bought directly from Cyberlink itself, but it makes me bloody ropeable that the legit users always seem to get held to ransom.

This will be more than a month of not being able to use my paid-for commercial software. That's shocking mismanagement, and Michael can say "thanks for your patience" all he likes, but since Cyberlink gives us no choice anyway, that's meaningless and somewhat thuggish.

*Helpless* said it beautifully in an early post in this thread; customer friendly looks differently in my eyes, as well.

Should I go back to the original version now instead of the beta I was given?

In my case that means installing v.9 and upgrading to v.11. And I assume there's a bunch of patches that needs to be installed.

Another thing is that I've had audio issues in the upgraded v.11 (when switching from DVD to Blu-ray discs) and have to manually adjust the audio settings every time.
