Well here I am again.
Last night I had some time to find things out and I can say that I've got a very nice result when making a simple, short test movie.
This is how I did it:
1 - As I'm using Lightroom for editing my pictures, I found out that you can do the same for your video files. Here's an explanation for the ones that are using Lightroom too (as you're not using it, it's kind of hard to understand):

With that I could easily create a nice toning and copy it to all of my clips.
2 - After that I exported them to new files and imported the 'toned' movie clips into PD11.
3 - To create the 2,35:1 aspect ratio I looked for a template at Google. Sorry 1Nina, I didn't use your template because I was looking for an exact 2,35:1 template with the size of 1920x1080. Yours is slightly different (smaller black bars). Well, here it is in a .png with transparent middle part:

I inserted it on a new track and stretched it from beginning to the end of the movie.
4 - For a finishing touch I wanted to create a black, soft vignette. I inserted the 'focus' effect on the first clip, set it to the right amount and depth and selected to put the effect on all of the clips.
Now, that's it
The biggest advantage of pre-toning the clips in for example Lightroom is that PD11 is eating the clips much easier, resulting in faster editing and no locks or crashes.
When the movie is ready, I'll post the link in here to show you the results.
