Error Code 800401F9

Power DVD won't recognize any drives. It has always worked fine for me in the past.

So I was starting up a Blu Ray, everything looked to be going fine, then Power DVD went to a solid gray screen. Locked up fully. I quit the program, rebooted, and then when I restarted, Power DVD says it can't access the storage device, kicks me up a region code selection window with 0 choices remaining (I only originally set it last year when I loaded Power DVD and have never changed it). I then get Error Code 800401F9 Error in DLL. Anybody seen this? Uninstall and re-install (going back to V 9 and updating to 11)?

I'm getting the same problem. Really don't want to have to reinstall - particularly since I had problems with the disc in the first place a couple of years ago.

OK,
That suggests to me one of the windows update patches from last week broke it. Are you all on Win 7 x64? Cyberlink, we'll need a fix.

Hi all,

I have the same issue.

I have Power DVD 11 Ultra on Win7 x64

I think the problem is related to the last patch 15th October, download file:
CL.v3318_r77447_Ul_DVD120803-02.exe

If I install it I have the problem.

It seems to work fine until patch from 7th march:
CyberLink.v2608_r72357_Ul_DVD120130-01.exe

However there is another component for sure as I have installed the last patch from october for longer time.
As workaround I use the patch from march last Year which is better than using PowerDVD10 (which works as well).
Hope we get a fix or know what else caused the issue.

Until that maybe my suggestion is usefull.
Here you can find all the patches:
http://de.cyberlink.com/support/powerdvd/patches_de_DE.html

By the way: have opened a support ticked as wll.
Regards:
Kevin

Interesting, so if it was one of the Windows updates, it mus have been to a range of OS - the update was my first guess, as I had just let Windows update with 13 urgent patches an hour before Power DVD broke.

Looks like I'll uninstall and only update to the march 2012 patch until Cyberlink figures this out.

It has stopped working for me in the last few hours.

Tried with the same disc which last worked but to no avail. I've reinstalled with the latest patch without luck.

The only thing that has installed today is a Microsoft Security Essentials Definition update and that was at 8am and it's worked after that time so I doubt it's that.

Last Windows updates from Microsoft were installed on the 12th.

Reinstalled and patched up to v2608. Back in business.

Have opened support ticket too.

Got the stock "make sure everything is up to date and then try with everything turned off" response.

This didn't solve it.

Hi Chris,

this is funny as this problem only exist if everything (=PowerDVD11) is installed with the latest patch.

I am also not sure what could have caused this because my last MS update was 5th February and it worked pretty well until last week.

But it looks many people have the issue suddently to the same time so there is something which we all have.

Maybe a stupid thought: do we all have the same virus (which our antivirus didn´t find so far)?

Kevin

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials.

I tried it with MSE uninstalled and it still didn't work.

Another person with the same issue here,
trying the 2608 version patch downgrade method.

Using Windows 7 x64,
Comodo Firewall

Never have had an issue at all with any conflicts with AntiVirus, it sounds like their patch is glitching hard with current updated Windows versions.

Ughhh, I decided to downpatch and realized that I initially upgraded from 10 to 11 and so forth.

Does anyone happen to have a copy of PowerDVD 10 deluxe trial? I'm looking for the version that can utilize this patch

CyberLink_PowerDVD11_v2024_r69476_de_to_de_DVD110804-07

God, they make this a nightmare to recover from version errors, christ sake...at least the Ultra 11 trial actually works properly.

Just an update.

Sent a load of screenshots to them.

The fix doesn't work for recent Fox releases such a Skyfall which is why the latest update was needed in the first place

Same problem as everyone else. Win 7 64 bit. The problem started yesterday, right after update KB2670838 (Platform Update for Windows 7 x64-Edition) installed.

I haven't got that installed yet (appears in Windows update as available but not installed) so it can't be that.
