I have been trying to edit a film, it is a Windows Media Player (.VRO) file. When I paly it in Windows Media Player and other software it plays the entire clip which is about 1hr long. When I import it into PD it only shows about half of it and it has various bits missing. I have tried, out of curiosity, editing it in Windows Live Movie Maker and it will not even allow it to be impoted.

Thanks for the advice, however I am not that technicaly adept and when I tried downloading from your link my screening software (Malwarebytes) detected adware and quarantined it. Is this site/software ok, am I alright to overide it?

Before you install the codec pack, search the web for a VRO to mpg2 converter. There should be some free ones available. I use "Any Video Converter" (free). It says it will convert the file. No need to buy the pay for version.

Go here: http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/

I fhtta doesn't work, you can try the codec pack. .

Actually this increasingly complicated but downloading certain applications, is full of pitfalls, we must act as a detective in some cases, I refined the search and found this link that leads straight to the download.

Hi Time -

Even though VRO is listed as a compatible format for PD10, here are some links that may help explain why PD isn't reading them properly...

http://www.womble.com/support/FAQ10.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-VR - under VRO sub-heading

Steve's suggestion of converting to MPEG-2 (I think) would get you the result you're after.

Cheers - Tony
