Hello,

Lastly I have bought a laptop with PD10 pre-installed. Just to inform I have a JVC video recorder which generates MOD files. When I try to capture those files , PD10 shows me a message that the dolby digital is not supported, and PD10 captures the video files without sound.
What shoudl I do?
thanks
Regards

Antonio

Do not "Capture." Use whatever software that came with your camcorder to transfer the mod files from your camcorder to your hard drive. Then "import" the mod files into PowerDirector just like other video files.

That is my suggestion. Gateway DX4380, AMD A8-5500 Quad Core 3.2GHz with ATI Radeon HD 7560D; 16GB RAM; 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM; Windows 8 Pro 64-bit; PDR11, PDVD12.

Hello again,

Seems I explained badly , really I transfer the video files from camcorder to laptop hard drive, but when I open the Power Director 10 , and select the option "capture" , the PD10 gets / opens the video files but without sound, but showing before the message " the Doby Digital is not supported ".
I´m not a expert on that , but times ago ( I bougth the camcorder on 2006 , JVC GZ-MG505 ) I used POwer Director , I suppose versión 5 , and no issues founded.

Maybe , PD10 needs any update , I don´t know...

thansk in advance for your help.

Antonio,

When you have the *.mod files on the computer, do not use the 'capture' function. You should use the 'import' function. This will bring your video clips into the PD library.

Add to the time line and edit as desired.

Those "free" programs that come on a computer are OEM versions of the standard software. As such they are teaser programs that do not have the full functionality of the commercial products. They tease you into buying the full program for the functionality. Perhaps that is what your issue is regarding dolby. The commercial product does capture dolby.

Having said that, JVC (and Sony and Panasonic) tend to develop their own modification to commercial standards. Really the only way around this is to try to use a free video converter to convert the MOD video to an mpg2 file. Try adding that to Power Director. There are many free video converters that work well and some that do batch conversion. Check c/net for options.

If that doesn't work, then you may have to get the commercial product. .
