Hi,

I am new to video editing and am very interested on buying PD 11, so after reading the system requirements, I decided to download and install the free 30 day trial. Installation was smooth, but when I tried to launch the program afterwards, it stays stuck with a "window" that seems to be opening the program, but stays there forever (please see attached image .jpg)

Now, I opened a support ticket, but the replies from the technicians are painfully slow, sometime taking almost 8 days between replies and so far they have been unable to solve my problem. At this pace, the 30 day trial will end before they give me a solution.

The following are the specs of my system:

CPU: Intel Core i7 860 @2.8Ghz with 4Cores,8 Threads and Hyperthreading.
RAM: DDR3 8Gb
Screen Resolution: 1280 x 1024
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5670 with 1Gb memory, support for DirectX 11, OpenGl 4.2
HD: WDC HD 7200 rpm with 70 Gb free space
A full functioning DVD burner and a good broadband internet connection.

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks

One of the causes of new powerdirector installation to freeze it not updating Quicktime and having a Video Card driver that is too old.

Go to Quicktime and get the latest Quicktime (Uninstall the old one before install the new one).

Go to the Manufacturer site for your video card and download and install the latest driver.

Edit: I should say get the latest Release Version Driver. Beta Drivers should not be used.

Thank you Carl,

Indeed it was the display driver and not that it was old, but on the contrary, I was using a BETA driver and certainly I never imagined that this could cause the problem, so I went to the AMD site and downloaded the official stable driver and voila, it opened fine!

Thank you very much !!! _______________________________________

You are welcome!

Beta Driver and Powerdirector is a NO, NO.
Only use the official driver.

Yes. And as we all know from recent bouts of driver releases from both AMD and Nvidia even "official" releases can be duds.

Cesar, Please post part "B" so we can see what computer you have. Here are the directions:

Did you install the program with your anti-virus running? Sometimes that causes issues with the installation..

Actually on these types of forums it is better if you start a new thread so that people can understand who is relying to whom and not get mixed up resonses. .
