Can't Preview in Edit Mode

I’m using Power Director 10 Ultra (10.0.0.1703.) I’m trying to edit a previously produced video. My problem is in the Edit mode, I can’t preview the video using either the preview window or the Media Viewer. I click the “play” control but nothing happens. I’ve always been able to preview videos using the same PC. This problem exists whether I’ve selected “Clip” or “Movie”. The timeline slider allows me to move to a selected spot in the video, although it’s kind of slow getting there. Once I get to the selected spot, the “Play” control does nothing. Is there some setting that I may have messed up? I’m a newbie to video editing in general and PowerDirector in particular.

I’m running Windows 7 64 Bit Professional, version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
Thanks,
Jon

There is a couple of things you can try.
1. Lower the preview resolution to 'High' or 'Normal'.
2. Maybe the most important, up date your Video Card driver to the latest on the manufacturer's website.

If those changes do not help you,

Post Part A and Part B

Part B tells us about your computer.

I went to the site you recommended. One of the suggestions triggered my memory: I had just recently updated my Nvidia driver. The suggestion to update Power Director to correct an incompatibility with an Nvidia driver fixed the problem. Thanks for the tip Thanks,
Jon
