PD10 .mts to ACVHD and back to the beginning when at the end ;-)

A couple of gripes, I have searched the forums to see if there are answers (Probably are but not with the search criteria I used)

Q1) When editing at the end of a project and the cursor gets to the end of the project, the cursor then jumps to the beginning of the project.

Its a bit irritating, is there any way of stopping the cursor jumping, rather than putting a "dummy end" at the end of the project ?

Q2) I have formed a .mts image file and want to cut it to ACVHD format. Is there an easy way in PD10 ? I cannot seem to find a way to use the image to burn the disc.

I have used Avid Studio before and as in Q1 (above) the cursor stops at the end of the project

and in Q2 (above) Within Avid , I select the .mts image already in a folder, then select burn and away goes the DVD and in within 10 mins I Have a fresh ACVHD disc.

Does PD11 get round these problems ?

Thanks Win 7 Home SP 1, PD 13

It is just the way Powerdirector works.

If you are in Movie mode, the video on the timeline will play all the way through the videos on the timeline, and when the end is reached, the scrubber returns to the beginning.

If you are in Clip mode PD plays just the selected Clip, Plays the clip start to end that returns to the beginning of the clip.

If you pause the play, the scrubber stays where you stopped the play.

In Movie mode, Home key take the scrubber to the start, End Key takes the scrubber to the end of the videos on the timeline.
In Clip mode, the Home key to start of clip, End Key to end of clip.

You can burn a folder only in the Create Disk Module, then use disk burning software to burn the Disk folder to as many disk as you wish.

Powerdirector does not create a iso file.

There is lot of free disk burning software as well as good quality commercial software.

Cyberlink has Power2Go software. Both paid and free versions.

As to how to create a AVCHD disk, the option is in Create Disk > Disk Preferences.

Many thanks for your quick reply.

Q1) Just seems strange to me that the scrubber would jump to the beginning of the project, unless I have missed the logic as to why it should need to jump to the start. (Could be me (Got to the age where I have seen the wheel invented many times, and wondering why the younger generation seem to want to make it square )

That said, I had a brief play with Sony Vegas and the opposite seemed to happen. If you did not stop the scrubber it just went on, ... and on ... and on. Then I found the cursor 20 minutes up the timeline after the end of the project. Did not understand that either !

Also thanks for reply to Q2.

I have found a fairly obvious work around. I put the previously rendered M2ts file on the timeline, ran SVRT, and chose (as you suggested) the AVCHD DVD format. 12 minute movie DVD was cut in 4 minutes or so. (Not to be confused with the render time time previously which took a good 4 hours as it contained mov, AVI and jpgs on a flagging laptop)

Thanks for your advice

Rgds
