Hi Bobby -
Windows Media Player, VLC Player & Winamp all have visualisation modules. The one Barry suggested - "Scope" under Bars & Waves in WMP - is the closest you'll get to a waveform. Others are more like equaliser/audio meters.
There's a mountain of screen capture software. You'd probably want one that records system audio too (to save a separate syncing step). I use Camtasia Studio as a rule, but you may not want to spend $$$.
There are plenty off freeware screen capture programs. Just google. Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 is one that I'd recommend, though screen capture sessions are time limited. It does a good job.
