Hi, I have just downloaded powerdirector 11 deluxe today and am playing around with it. I have found out that it is EXTREMELY slow compared to other programs being run on my computer. I am using a HP Pavillion g6-2010nr. Any help?!

Attach a copy of the dxdiag.txt from your computer. What type of video files are you working with? Can you post a screen shot of your time line? __________________________________

what is a dxdiag.txt? And the videos I started to use were all 1080 from my gopro and then I started using videos that were in 720. Didn't matter the resolution they were in, one video would slow the entire thing down. The videos are in .mts format I believe.

Bobby31,
here is a link to the instructions for creating a dxdiag file. It is very easy, see PART B.

1. Are you using a trial version?
2. What kind of video files are you using?
3. What "other programs" do you mean?
NOTE: Video editing, particularly HIGH DEF, can bring a computer to it's knees. It's not like word processing, or photo-shop, and it can be more difficult than gaming on your machine. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

I am not using the trial version. I bought the program. The files I am using are AVCHD video type. I am assuming they are either 1080 or 960 hidef. The other programs I was talking about is the Iheart radio app (running windows or any other apps I am running like that..

I think I may have found the problem. All my videos are saved onto my external hard drive. My External is only accessible via wifi through my network. This I think might be why it is taking so long to trim/edit/upload every video in the program. I'm going to play around with it and see if copying some of the videos onto my laptop hard drive will speed things up a bit.

Getting your media onto your laptop will, I believe, improve performance dramatically.
You will, nonetheless, find that adding FX, and playing tricks with your video will cause your machine to lag anyway, you can lower the quality of your preview window to ease some strain, it is the little box-in-a-square icon under the preview window. Lowering the resolution of the preview does not affect the final video output.
If you are 64-bit, think of maxing-out the RAM, and for free, increase virtual memory. Defrag, clean out junk/temps. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Bobby31:

Welcome to the PD11 Forum. Since no one else has commented on your dxdiag file, I will share my observations. You have only an i3 CPU, only 4 GB of RAM for a 64-bit OS, and most importantly, only 32 MB of dedicated video RAM. AVCHD files are HD.

The minimum recommended requirements for PD11 Deluxe can be found at this link:

http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-deluxe/specs_en_CA.html

Having a computer with MORE than the minimum recommended requirements is recommended. "Minimum Requirements" are precisely that: the minimum required for the program to be able to function at all.

Your notebook computer will struggle mightily with video editing, which is very resource-intensive. For sure, moving your video files to your primary hard drive will help somewhat. Lowering your preview resolution will also help. You may find, as have others with marginal video editing computers, that it will help to break up your video projects into small segments, produce each segment, and then assemble all of the produced segments into a final project and burn or produce that project. That will lessen the load on your notebook. Turning on shadow files in "Preferences" will help too, but you will have to allow the time for them to be created.

This is not to say that your notebook won't be able to handle video editing - just that it will be slow. There are editors using marginal computers with great success. Mind you, they have to have a great deal of patience as well.

Hope this information is of some assistance. Have a great day.

How does one increase "virtual" memory? W10 on Dell Desktop, 64 bit, 32GB RAM, Intel(R)Core(TM) I5- 3350P CPU, 3.10 Ghz, 1 TB HD, free space - 200 GB
