I seem to be having an issue regarding the anti-shake function.
Not the 1st time, but just now asking.
When I apply it to a single clip, it sometimes wants to apply itself to other clips, and when it does, it's maxed out.
Nice steady shots of foreheads!
Remove anti-shake, from affected clips, go back and start over, same thing, different clips.
Odd, no?

Hi Barry,
I am experiencing the same problem. Refer my posting on the 30-01-08
under 'Magic Fix PD6'. Nobody has come up with an explanation as to the problem. Dafydd has asked me to send him an example of the problem but to date I have not done so. Possibly you could confer with him.

Hi Des,

Barry has been. I might need a clip from you as well. I'll send you an email a little later today.

Hi Barry,
I'm only interested in Des' and yours here Barry because both of you have supplied me with footage (which I've passed onto CyberLink) and both use PowerDirector 6.

Right, Barry. The original video you supplied is "different" as we have discussed with it being captured using Windows Movie Maker. Your capture camera (an old Sony camera Barry used as a one off) settings are neither 4:3 or 16:9 but a Cinema-scope style.

In PD set at 16:9 display, I changed the aspect ratio of video in the time-line to 4:3 and selected it to Crop to 16:9, this resulted in an edge of black on both vertical sides (more on the right.). I've then split the video into 3. The middle clip had the Magic Fix (shake) applied.

Resulted in: The middle clip expanding to a full 16:9 and the black edges being removed. The two other clips keeping the thin black area.

That's it - the fix was applied to one portion. I also had two Aquarium.mpg clips in the time-line. In Preview I had some display issues. As this is being tested by CL, I'll follow up with questions to them in a couple of days. Barry's clip is "different" - I'll play with this again.

A screen shot of the clip is attached.

I'll have a look at Des' a little later - I might need to contact him etc.

Dafydd

G'day Barry,

Why didn't you think of that? where does he get the inspiration for these little pearls of wisdom, must be something to do with his sheep, when you have got your arm up their rear end you need to be thinking about something else, to take your mind off, of where you have just stuck your arm

Regards

Robert

The following is all Barry's idea:
"I changed the aspect ratio of video in the time-line to 4:3 and selected it to Crop to 16:9"

Giving credit - it tickled me no end when he said what he did.

Interesting the change of aspect ratio idea. Of course "Cinema" mode in more traditional (analogue) camcorders is actually a 4:3 image masked top & bottom electronically in camera, whereas 16:9 is anamorphic compression that relies on the TV, computer or projector to uncompress and produce a "widescreen" image - SO, did Barry turn an image recorded in compressed mode into a 4:3 image - resulting in distortion or is there some other trick. If I film on my digital camcorder, I try to use the 4:3 capture, and have made my own mask, but then use a PinP mask when producing to ensure a sharp edge on screen when projecting (usually onto an 11'0" screen). I prefer this method because it allows me to incorporate digital photagraphs similarly masked. Good to share ideas! Seeking wisdom - finding fluff - but wise fluff!
