Hi All

Is anybody else experiencing problems after updating to patch v2418?

Since updating to software version v2418 I have had 3 'stopped working errors at random times for no particular reason - I have sent CL an error report - I'm sure they'll reply shortly LOL

I even had a SIMKEY code error

Hi Neil I now keep getting continual "Power Director Not Responding" hangups seemingly at random with this update. Also when entering a verbose text TITLE had an immediate fatal crash to reboot AND the pre saved version of this TITLE .. CANNOT BE ERASED as each time u click on it to try to delete it also causes immediate fatal crash to reboot!

Am going to uninstall/re install to the first update version to see if that solves this issue, but of course this older update has its own problems too
I am beginning to think that this is a shaky product

I had some problems straight after updating. A cold boot appears to have solved the problem, fingers crossed. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

A cold boot is when the computer is turned off completely. "Start/Shutdown", which requires the physical on switch or button on the computer manually pushed to start the computer again.

A warm boot is when you use the restart function. "Start/restart". This turns the computer off but automatically starts it again without having to manually push the on button on the case.

A warm boot can leave information still viable in ram whereas a cold boot completely shuts down all electronics in the computer. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

I had a 'reverse' situation ... it worked after this update

Spent hours attempting to correct a lady in my life who kept becoming short/fat/hairy every time I tried to do a Slideshow with face detection on. Having now updated to this release I can say with certainty that she is now 'completely normal'

Apart from this I can confirm that I have also had a couple of 'Stopped Working' situations with no identifiable reason.

With regard to pc 'Cold Boot', if its really necessary to fully restart then the following is recommended:
Turn off the computer and then take out the battery pack (if you have one) and disconnect power cable. There is then no possible power feeding to the computer. After that, press start button for 30-40 second. Removing the battery seems to force a discharge of some of the capacitors, while pressing the power button for 30 or 40 seconds is the way to completely reset the BIOS on a lot of PCs and laptops. Then reconnect power and do a normal start up.
This advice came to me from HP CYa Ron (W10/i5gen8/Nvidia)

No worries Neil.

Perhaps I should add to my post above ...
Before taking this 'heavy duty' action, please check with your supplier
Though it is a well known problem-solver a cautious approach is always best. For example, whenever I install large updates to programmes or install new software, I always create a Restore Point so that I can backtrack if necessary. CYa Ron (W10/i5gen8/Nvidia)

No problem yet but I use an older Nvidea driver, 306.26

I Use Acronis to make a full backup of drive C every time before an update, driver change etc. That way
I can restore the exact previous setting in 15 minutes, w/o bits and pieces left in the registry etc. My drives
are all plug in, once a month a make a clone in addition to backups. Has saved my hide many times. And thus
I have a clean computer.

Hi All

Thanks for your input.

The problem - PD has stopped working (I think) has not happened again since doing a COLD REBOOT.
