Glitches when downloading!

I have a video camera, Canon GL-1, and use PD-6. When downloading my video I get alot of glitches. I tried using a tape head cleaner on the camera but the problem did not get resolved. What could be the problem? An old, dirty, video camera, mini DV tapes that are low grade, or I'm experiencing problems with the software? Please help.

Welcome!,
just to let you know, in order to be better helped, you must let us know which version of PD you are using, capture format, a few things about your OS, and a more detailed description of your issue.
Bullet points are great.

Farley,

I use a Canon XM1 which is the PAL version of the camera - PD6 captures without any problem - on any version of PD6. Mine is a clean smart well looked after unit.

Firewire connected
Camera to VCR and ON - Green light showing - slider position
Activate PD (open it on your PC)
Go to capture mode in PD
rewind your tape
and capture.

No problems - ever.

You can head clean it but be careful what you use.
I use new tapes
I have mine set to 16:9 mode

I have also set up to capture mpegs in time-code, scene recognised clips.
Edit > Preferences - check out the tabs and the options.

Barry is right, need to know your OS in case it's a Vista issue being thrown up and all the other info he's requested. I've jumped in here because i have direct knowledge of the unit (PAL version).
