I've used versions 9 and 10 and have had no problem moving around on the time line. Just upgraded to 11 and it will take 15-20 seconds for the computer to respond. I move the now time from one place to another on a four minute video and notice this lagging.
Think I have enough computer: Windows 7 Intel i7 with 8 gig memory and lots of disk space.
any ideas?
thanks

Randy:

There are many possible causes for the sluggish behavior. You should make sure that you have the latest video driver installed from the manufacturer's website, the latest version of QuickTime, and the latest patch for PD11. If you attach a dxdiag to your next post, the folks here can take a look "under the hood" to see if there is anything obvious about your computer configuration that might be causing the problem. Instructions to do that are in one of the sticky threads at the top of this forum.

If you have shadow files enabled, turn them off. You shouldn't need them from what you have described of your computer configuration.

Without more information, we would all be speculating here. A dxdiag file would help to identify a possible issue or eliminate your computer as the cause. Also information on what type of files you are working with and a screenshot of your timeline would assist.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Thanks for the insight, helps a rookie like me. I just installed all version 11 patches. Sluggish stuff seem to depend on the type of video file. Things work well with wmv and mov files and I experience the sluggish behavior with VOB files. Any insite as to why VOBs act this way?
thanks again Phil

VOBs have been coming up lately.
I suggest you convert any VOB to an MPEG2 or even WMV.
My experience has been VOBS are practical jokers, scenes you cut out play audio in another scene, or appear in the wrong place. Very weird stuff. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
