Powerdirector 11 trial issue hardware video coding

I am trying to make an AVCHD disk, but the software keeps telling me to select the hardware video coding. Hardware video decoding is selected under hardware acceleration. Am I missing something? Is there another place to select this option that I overlook?

I am running under windows 7. AMD radeon HD 7450.

Thanks for any advice.

Yes. On the produce window it is one of 2 options near the bottom of the page : SVRT or Hardware Acclrtn

Please post your DxDiag file for more detailed help. See top of first page of this forum. Win 10, i7

Thank you for the reply. In the 'produce'window in the options there is only the SVRT option near the bottom, when checking this option, a warning comes up not to use it because it can cause incorrect bitstreams. The Hardware Acclrtn tab has two options: openCL and hardware decoding, they are both checked.
I am in the Netherlands and I have installed a Dutch version of PD11, I have to translate the options as I read them as good as I can.

eurofan ,

Your PC is more than adequate to handle AVCHD files.

I suggest you try producing with and without the hardware acceleration options. You do not need HA since the PC can render the project without the graphics card GPU (accelerators).

Also note that PD11 TRIAL version has some rendering limitations.

Thank you for looking into it.
Not using the hardware acceleration option does not seem possible. When I want to make an AVCHD disk, the video coding format is only H.264 and this requires hardware acceleration. With or without selecting this option in the options pane, it will not make my AVCHD disk (it will always tells to select the hardware decoding option, even if it is selected).
I can not find any limitations for this in the documentation for the Trial version. H.264 should come native with windows 7, and that is according to the documentation good enough.
If the trial version will not make AVCHD disks, I can not rely on it that the paid version does. Also is the H.264 option available for blu ray disks, but also this will not work when selecting video coding format H.264.

I want to keep my HD movie in the highest quallity, does this not require the H.264 decoding for AVCHD/Blu ray disk?

I suggest you try producing with and without the hardware acceleration options

I can produce a AVC H2.64 file, the problem seems only to be in making a disk.
The ´fast video rendering technology´ is not active, so selecting SVRT or Hardware video encoder is not possible.

Do understand it correcly now that the software tells me to select the hardware acceleration in the produce window and not the options pane when trying to make a disk? As I said, that is not possible since it is not active.

The trial version seems to have limitations on AVCHD and BD disc burning (search this forum for examples). I along with many other users on this forum have used PD for both AVCHD and BD almost elusively and it works very well.

If you are concerned don't forget that you have a 30 day money back option. But I don't think you'll need it. Win 10, i7

Hi,
I have the same problem but with the trial powerdirector 12.My videos are AVCHD 50i 1920/1980 and clicking on the SVRT apply button for rendering it does nothing.
I have bought a Sony Vaio SVF1521s6EB windows 8,RAM 8GB
Intel core i7,Nvidia(R) Geforce(R) GT 740M optimus
Intel graphics HD 4000
So how it does not support hardware decoding?..
I put on the openCL and hardware decoding and allow SVRT and reduce noise .on produce never works, for mpg4,or AVCHD H264 or MPG2..There is a decoding limitation in the trial..?It uploads the video without but my lapstop suffers!and is slow..
I think has the specifications for powerdirector, isn't it?Thank you for un advice
Regards Regards

All the limitations described in my earlier posts were because of the trial version. The bought full version does not have any of the limitations I encountered.

Hi,thank you for your answer..but I need a clarifiacation..the problem you had in the trial version, for SVRT or hardware acceleration was only when you burned a disc and wasn't happening for upload..?Should I produce at first and then upload?
Thanks Regards

The limitations were in the burn and produce. I never tried an upload.

Hi,'Thank you for your answer,
it does not work neither for dvd burning...
i dont understand whats mean (for the trial):that AVCHD H264 files are supporting importing, produce Only on pc which offers independent hardware decoding,encoding..
I have bought just 1 week ago a Sony vaio with Nvidia card GT 740 optimus,Intel HD 4000,intel core i7,*GB RAM and I dont think that would not work the hardware in the trial...
I wrote to severals on youtube who are making review,ec and does not know what that means!I shall try the technical support.. Regards

It very simply means that the Powerdirector 12 Trial Software is crippled in HD production and Disk Burning functions.
It is not FREE software, and does not function like the Paid retail version.

The Trial is functional for Standard Definition videos only. It is limited in many ways.
