Just wondering, has anyone ever captured a webcam video with PD?
My Vista laptop and Creative camera won't play nice with PD6.
I hit capture, it says its detecting, then the Creative software starts up by itself, and crash. Join/SignUp to SeeMyWorldOnVideo. We're PowerDirector Video Editors. Are you a member? - JOIN TODAY!

Hi Barry,

I think it's a Vista issue.

I have a Creative webcam and I have used (just did it again) PD6 v2319 to capture live feed in. OS is XP.

Check up on the Creative site to see if the drivers have changed.

come back of course.

Hi Barry,

I agree with Dafydd, I have a Logitech webcam and have no issues capturing live with XP (PD6 1731b)

Hello Gents,
I have their latest software. Right out of the gate I found the camera and software not working properly, so I did update. I'd like to stop the Creative software from starting, without removal. Join/SignUp to SeeMyWorldOnVideo. We're PowerDirector Video Editors. Are you a member? - JOIN TODAY!

I removed the application software, leaving only the driver. Now it works fine with PD6, but I no longer have all the cool features, motion detection, remote view, etc. Time to contact Creative Labs! Hi Barry,

Just as a matter of interest, which model Creative webcam did you purchase?

Dafydd and I have never been called "Gents" before, it makes us feel so proud, thank you very much. You can call us Gents again if you like

Dear extiguished colleages,
my model number os vf0250, notebook pro.
Middle of the pack camera, alot of barrel roll in the lens, I may even return it.
As stated, I removed the software, and have now found YAWCAM.
Not yet tested, but this freeware has the features I was looking for...
motion detection, emailing, ftp upload, does work with PD6.
Thanks for your attention.

Oh, how cruel, you build us up, then swat us down, (like your football team)

Checked out the Creative webcam of yours, here in Aus. its at the bottom the pack, ($40). I am looking for one for the laptop, I have a Logitech on the desktop, think I will stay with Logitech, cost 3 times as much, but you get what you pay for I suppose.

Regards

Robert

Thanks Barry for the update.

My Creative is the bottom of the pack..... heck it's just a ordinary webcam that cost me 20ish quid. I only ever use it when I need to frighten people on Skype....... Robert are you going on Skype tomorrow..... I'll hook the webcam up

There are some over-rated high-priced webcams around. I did have a Logitech one... and it was dreadful and very poor when compared to the Creative. The one thing that really was amazing was the focal point of this cheapie Logitech webcam, about a centimetre from the lens. It was terrific if you wanted to hone into an insect or do some hand held macro microscope stuff.

Dafydd
PS I'll look up the software you mentioned Barry.
