Newly installed windows 8: I mounted a BD ISO file (generated with Slysoft CloneDVD2, also have Slysoft AnyDVD on computer)

PowerDVD 12 comes up with message: "This type of disc is not supported"

PowerDVD 12 works fine on another Windows 7 computer.
It does not work on two (2) windows 8 computer (all HP Pavillon)
I removed all old versions, cleaned registry (even edited and manually removed last reminders) and then installed PowerDVD 12

btw, the HPMediasmart and PowerDVD 11 works flawless.

any ideas?

Hi,
Please check if the physical disc can playback normally.

Hi,
I can reproduce the symptom here and have forwarded it to our development team for furhter investigation.

it could be a limitation of the MSFT Windows 8 ISO mounter, as other ISO mounter (e.g. P2Go) do not show such issue we need some investigation on that.

Could be, but keep in mind that the HpMediaSmart can handle the mounted ISO.
I am looking forward to a solution.
Thanks

I have the same issue, was about to post the same thing, oddly though sometimes it will try to play but it just freezes up.

A physical disk plays fine - just tested on my win 7 machine it works fine

So far there is only one way around:Mount the iso file, open Powerdvd 12 and go onto the mounted drive into the stream directory where the Blueray files are. Sort the files by size and highlight the biggest file, then hit the start button.

I hope cyberlink will fix this though.

Hi,
we checked this issue and it is related to MS virtual drive implementation unfortunately we cannot workaround it.

suggest using an alternative ISO mounter like Power2Go Essential

Thank you for the "solution". Indeed this works.
But what I do not agree to that the iso-mounting part of the SW is in the package I have to buy. First I payed quite some money to upgrade to the latest version, trusting that this version is compatible. There was no hint whatsoever that windows 8 would cause a problem. Now I need to buy additional SW to get functionality back what worked before?
It would be fair that at least the mounting feature is free or implemented in the DVD.
I can't believe that if the additional SW is tyhe cure that PowerDVD cannot add this functionality, especially as some older SW from different supplier still works with Windows 8.
I hope that the CyberLink team will revisit this case and works on a solution for those who already payed for the DVD SW upgrade.
