Members -

1. I only ever use the Magic Movie or Magic Style features of PD to respond to others' questions, so today was the first time I'd looked at it in PD11.
2. That's a good thing because it doesn't work!

Steps - Magic Movie:
1. Import PD's sample media (clips & images) & placed in timeline
2. Click Magic Movie, select template & follow prompts...
3. Click Advanced Editing
- all media gone from timeline - no magic movie - nothing!
4. Repeat process (ad infinitum) with different template & selecting different options
5. Click Advanced Editing
- all media gone from timeline - no magic movie - nothing!

Steps - Magic Style:
1. Import PD's sample media (clips & images) & placed in timeline
2. Click Magic Style, select template...
3. Click Apply
- all media gone from timeline - no magic movie - nothing!
4. Repeat process with different template
5. Click Apply
- all media gone from timeline - no magic movie - nothing!

Following the same procedure in PD9 & PD10 works predictably

Before I start wondering... , could someone please test to see whether it's just me or an issue needing investigation.

Cheers - Tony

I had a different result. The media did get placed into the timeline, but my 15 second clip was produced to a total of 15 seconds, with magic movie intro, and my clip truncated to 3:01 seconds. The remainder of the clip was just cut off. __________________________________

Thanks Jaime-esque -

Not sure what the issue is here... maybe I'll do a reinstall & see if that clears whatever it is.

Appreciate your feedback!

Cheers - Tony

Fresh install of Director Suite (including patch updates) solved nothing.

Mystery!

Hi, Tony,

I, too, never use Magic Movie and Magic Style. But after reading what you write before, I tested it.

Applying the procedure you describe in your first post, with PD's sample medias placed on the timeline, Magic Style and Magic Movie work fine.

I cannot say I appreciate the results, but they work.....

My soft is PD 11 Ultimate, as a part of DirectorSuite.

Hi Tony

I too have never used the Magic Movie or the Magic Style

However after following your procedure I am unable to replicate it -

Silly question, but have you uncheck HA (possible conflict with card maybe)?

Keep us posted though - good luck

I did it with both QS and NVIDIA GPUs. Seemed to work fine.

I did it as often as I could bear to look at the results - once for each one

Cheers

Thanks guys -

No Neil - HA on/off makes no difference.

Adrian - sounds like the results I'm getting may be infinitely preferable to yours!

I am a newbe so I hope you old pros don't think I am wasting your time.

Been playing with MM for awhile now and found a couple of thinks that might help other newbees and might help "Old" pros.

Always save your working pds before you use MM. If you don't every thing on your timeline will be replaced with the generated MM movie. Cyberlink warns you about this but I ignored the warning because I am smarter than they are.

Make sure that every thing that is not being used (no green check mark) in the media room is deleted from the project. For some strange reason MM sometimes includes media in the media room that is not on the timeline.

If you want to add background VO or music do it after the MM is generated. Sometime parts of the audio disappear if you generate the video in MM.

Set the duration longer than the length the time line shows or it sometimes (not all the time) is clipped.

Play around with the Settings (Criteria Settings). Helps put you in control of the final Video.

If the preview is not what you expected - clips in wrong order - click on the reorder button and put the clips in the order you want.
Again this is a sometime thing. Sometime the order is right - other times ?

My son-in-law is in the web development business and asked me to do a video for him.

I have two of them here: http://alfaromeomia.com/EEyes/

Holler if you have any questions about my explanations. Hope I am not hijacking this thread!

Well I have played around with MM for three times now and CAN NOT do anything in Advanced Editing still other than move the pictures order, edit text and the music. That's it! That is not advanced if you ask me!! W10 on Dell Desktop, 64 bit, 32GB RAM, Intel(R)Core(TM) I5- 3350P CPU, 3.10 Ghz, 1 TB HD, free space - 200 GB
