Hello

If I make simple changes to "contrast" or "brightness", click "apply to all" then view my footage, and it is all of the sudden SLOW, and out of time with the audio. If I add a transition, it is the same thing. I have the most recent drivers installed. I did that today. What could be the deal? Thanks in advance.

Hi ThisLisa ,
How long is the video, format, frame rate and frame size? Please provide a full diagnostic of your computer?

From what you've written. You are stressing your computer with the application of changing every frame in your video and then expecting it to present the data "on the fly" in preview. The result is the audio and video display doesn't sync because of the load being placed on the graphicas and the CPU. What is the Produced output like?

Please provide a screenshot of the Edit Workspace? the aim is to show how you've set your project up and with the diagnostic data should give editors a chance to give you some sound ideas to work on.

Guide, Part A, B, E & F.

MediaInfo, http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en will provide critical information on the full properties of a video/media file. Please provide the data as an attachment in a text file format.

I have just "guessed an answer" here and of course may be wrong.

Dafydd

Thank you for responding. I will post what yo asked for, Until then ...

This is a small piece of the vid without transitions or enhancements so it is only jerking a little. You can tell in the guitar playing part. If I produce one with bad skips, and drags in the playback, the final produced output shows all of those same issues.

Her is a vid of the screen. The audio didn't get recorded when I took the screen vid for whatever reason but you can still see the jerking and dragging by watching the timeline or the vid. It responded this way after I added a single transition.

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for all the information you've provided.

The video didn't show me anything I could grab onto as a noticeable issue. However,
1. The screenshots showed the capture program ha ha
2. and the use of Shadow Edit files - replacing the HD files in the editing process.
3. You don't have sufficient ram, W7 is at it's limit and with a resource hungry editing program (all editing programs require lots of resources) you're going to struggle.
3-1 CPU processing the shadow edit files, and rendering the project.
3-2 Insufficient ram to share with your graphics card.
4. Your graphics will struggle, using shadow edit files will help.

Suggestion. Make sure you uncheck the Preview option during the Produce stage and do not use your PC for anything while rendering.

Basically your PC is underpowered for HD editing and you'll always struggle and have problems with display and finished video.

Dafydd

I think that Dafydd summed it up correctly.

The only that MIGHT be of reasonable help is to update your Intel GPU chip set. Go here and select the automatic update:

One more thing, my husband says according to the resource monitor i didn't max out the cpu. He watched it while I used the program. Does that fit with this diagnosis?

I just put the program on someone's new Toshiba 1.56Ghz Quad Core, and the same thing happened. It worked great until I changed the "brightness" and then it skipped, and dragged, which also puts the vid out of sync with the audio.

The Quad Core is...
Processor Core
AMD A6 3420M
Radion 6520G graphics
8GB memory
64bit Windows

Can I please just have a lower version 10, 9, or 8? I need this program, but this is 3 computers now with all the same skip, and jerk.

That graphics chip just usn't up to the task. Quote from a review: I highlighted the important part

The AMD Radeon HD 6520G is an integrated processor graphics card for mid-range laptops. It is integrated in the mid-range APUs (A6 Series, e.g. A6-3410MX) and offers 320 of the 400 shader cores clocked at 400MHz. It offers no dedicated graphics memory (shared memory graphics card) and is therefore slower than similar Radeon HD 6000M cards.

Video editng is resource hungry

Thanks Wnuk for your info.

Wow, maybe it is that demanding. I have put it on 3 laptops, and it hasn't maxed out the CPU or memory on any of them, yet won't work. Maybe an earlier version will work. This is a bummer. I really want to get this project done.

Have you tried turning down the preview resolution? It will be less taking on your system.

I did indeed, but still didn't work. Thanks for that tip. I tried that tonight in fact.

Brightness is broken, as well as some the others in the "Color Adjustments" group. It takes way too long to process that effect, even for standard definition video, in relation to the effects that work okay and are more complicated.

You might want to use one of the NewBlueFX's Video Essentials color fixers. They haven't slowed down any.
