Installing PDR 11 on PDR 10 and 9?

Hi Everyone,

I have ordered PDR 11 Ultimate Suite which should be with me by Wednesday. I have a machine spec matching the BD/HD 3D end of the recommended list on CL's page.

I already have PDR 10 and 9 installed. Would other editors recommend uninstalling these before installing 11.

I apologise for asking this because I bet it's been asked many times but I failed miserably to find the right combination of words to make the search section come up with an answer.

Thanks

Bob

If you bought the Full Powerdirector 11 program (not an upgrade), you can have all three Powerdirectors installed on your computer.

The upgrade version of PD11 uninstalls previous versions.

Thanks Carl, it will be the full packaged version. If I did uninstall the other two do I have to make provision to save existing data or, as in most types of program, will the data files be safe and available to be imported into PDR11.

Bob:

Your data files should be alright, if they are saved in the default location under "My Documents\Cyberlink\PD Version #". If not, alll bets are off.

That said, I would back up those folders where your media files and .pds files are located just to be on the safe side, and then move them all to the "My Documents\Cyberlink\PD11 folder". Alternately, you could pack your projects, under the File menu, and copy them to backup media, again, just to make sure nothing gets sideswiped. I had no issues with uninstalling PD10 after installing PD11 Ultimate, but I didn't take any chances. Computers do seem to attract gremlins, who can sometimes wreak havoc.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Ordered PowerDirector 11 Ultimate Suite from Amazon today ... can't wait!

Already installed is/was PD9 (disc purchase) which was then upgraded to PD10 online with Cyberlink as a free upgrade due to purchase timing. Can I leave this on my pc temporarily and install the full PD11 before I decide to remove/keep these older programmes? I think the answer is 'yes' based upon this thread but just to be sure ...

What about Wave Editor?

G'day Ron -

If you've purchased the full version - of course you have - it's the Suite! Silly me.

Yes - you can leave PD10 where it is. All will be well. WaveEditor will be replaced during installation of the PoerDirector 11 Ultimate Suite.

So - you were right!

Cheers - Tony

Thanks Tony ... looking forward to playing. Gonna pick up my ext 23" monitor today, do a cut out of the Preview Panel from PD10 and stick it on the monitor ... just to get to know it

I thought of downloading what is available direct from Cyberlink but even the smallest on my broadband would take a long time and would probably fail 3x before I captured it all.

Hello Ron,

I bought the full boxed version of PDR 11 Ult' Suite from Amazon, it cost less than the download upgrade from CL.
Mine installed perfectly with the data folders exactly where they should be. I'm a week ahead of you and have very much enjoyed my play time so far.

Good luck.

Bob

PS. I'm going to uninstall PD9 to gain some disc space. All those projects work fine in 11.

Goodonyer Bob ... I'm waiting and trying to keep the peace with the 'boss' 'cause she knows that I will be kinda busy soon

Thanks for tipping me off that its no probs to install. I get my set also from UK Amazon ... we don't have it here and if we do then its all in some foreign language! Amazon send it within day's and take off UK VAT BUT good old Norway add more in as soon as it hits the shore plus a bit for 'whatever'. You just pay if you want the goods ... PD11 is not listed in the local stores/web stores.

The bit of reading I have so far done about PD11 is very encouraging. I am much an amateur but the fun in all these hobbies is in the journey and not in the ending so they say.

Hi Ron,

I find it makes me smile when I find it did just what I expected.

All the best,

Bob
